China Drama Review Love O2O (2016)

starring Yang Yang as Xiao Nai and Zheng Shuang as Bei Weiwei

Although Love O2O is quite interesting at the start but I start to lose interest in it after some time. Despite that, I still continued watching until I finish it as I just want to continue seeing the lead couple haha. Their chemistry is good! Another reason I carried on watching is because it is relatable, with the student life, specifically university life as background.

Until about first half of the drama, I was intrigued by how the students can make characters that represents themselves in the games, and it is as if the real them manage to go into the computer games. The computer game becomes very much alive in this drama and people in the form of characters can have feelings, build relationships “physically” or communicate with each other in the game. It is an interesting perspective as nowadays many real life couples are formed through computer games haha. I laughed a lot at how Xiao Nai’s three buddies make jokes playfully or tease each other behind the scene or get excited when communicating in the game with Xiao Nai’s new found bride, Weiwei. Enjoyed watching the process of how Xiao Nai pursues Weiwei from online to offline, and enjoyed Weiwei’s reactions and character.

However, after some time the plot doesn’t attract me anymore as it is just about typical days in the university life, and how the relationships further develop, then going into company life. There isn’t much climax and I just look forward to seeing Xiao Nai and Weiwei. Managed to enjoy some romance here and there for the second half of the drama that made me think “Hmmm how nice to have such a boyfriend that is smart, confident, ambitious, working hard for his dream, cool, handsome, thoughtful, reliable, able to protect you well…” If I didnt remember wrongly, I remember him saying that nothing needs to be resolved with conflict which is so good, and I agree with it haha. But because he seems too perfect, it is also a little unreal. Maybe to some, he may seem too cold?

It is fun watching how Xiao Nai is competitive and his face suddenly becomes dark when knowing about a love rival like the basketball match with the guy I don’t really like throughout the drama. I don’t think that guy deserves Weiwei’s best friend haha. Although he is good with languages, he is so incapable in relationships, causing so many unnecessary misunderstandings. I feel that Xiao Nai and Weiwei in the drama are compatible in terms of looks and intellect haha!

The three buddies of Xiao Nai still continue to add humour to the drama and I feel that they all look good-looking haha, and they have distinct qualities that make them funny and likeable. I am touched by how they are loyal to Xiao Nai accepting him totally, and being at his back all the time, including working for his company no matter how other companies try to scout them.

  1. Hey! I really love your review. I just finished the show and swooned over Yang Yang/Xiao Nai. I definitely agree that their relationship seems too perfect to be realistic.
