Korean Drama Review SWDBS

Oh no, I just realise I dont have much time to write reviews since school started. Strong Woman Do Bong Soon was a fun watch though it wasnt as good as I thought it will be.

Strong Woman Do Bong Soon (2017) 大力女子都奉順

Genre: Fantasy, Romance, Comedy, Action, Suspense

Enjoyment: 9/10  Pace: 9/10  No. of times I watched it: 1

starring Park Bo Young as Do Bong Soon, Park Hyung Sik as Ahn Min Hyuk, Ji Soo as In Gook Doo, Ahn Woo Yeon as Do Bong Ki (Bong Soon’s twin brother)

Plot: Great strength is passed down from the older generations through the females in the family and thus Do Bong Soon inherited her strength from her mother. Do Bong Soon is unemployed but has a passion for creating games, and her life changes when she becomes the bodyguard of CEO of Ainsoft, a company that produces games.

It is cool to see Do Bong Soon in action as she beats up the bad guys and uses her strength for good. It is funny that her brother is a doctor and has an increased amount of workload due to her. I laughed a lot when watching how the bad guys are shocked by her strength, especially the superior who asked her to carry 10 boxes and shocked that she carried them all at once or him trying to bully her, the newbie, but ends up being stuck under the table she pushed, as well as her chicken fight with Ahn Min Hyuk’s secretary, and her wrist fight with Ahn Min Hyuk.

Liked the interaction between Do Bong Soon and Ahn Min Hyuk, ranging from cheery, cheesy to depressing and serious, and I can feel the “zap” when their eyes meet haha. Enjoyed how Ahn Min Hyuk sees Do Bong Soon’s true value, cherishes her and helps her improve unlike Do Bong Soon’s crush, Guk Doo. People may feel a pity for Guk Doo since he realises too late that he likes her but too bad, once you miss the timing, it is too late haha. Actually, is it right or good to hide your true self from your crush, and only present what you think is the best side of yourself when he/she is around?

I actually was expecting more from the background story of rich Ahn Min Hyuk being threatened, and his life is in danger since he has enemies who are jealous of him or want to seek revenge on him but his case is resolved so quickly, and the plot ends up focusing on the kidnapping case in Dobong-dong which made me like the drama less. Like there are other ways to show Do Bong Soon’s development from strong to vulnerable to strong… Because of how the plot goes, the purpose of Do Bong Soon being a bodyguard is not totally fulfillled.

Liked Park Hyung Sik’s acting, and how he portrays his vulnerability at the start and his ability to protect others towards the end. Park Bo Young is cute haha. However, towards the end, it feels that there is too much balance between the roles: Ahn Min Hyuk and Do Bong Soon. Do Bong Soon is supposed to be the main character but the focus is shifted more to Ahn Min Hyuk which makes the theme somehow fuzzy.

Why you should watch: Love the cast especially Park Bo Young and Park Hyung Sik, as well as the relationship development between all the characters!

Random thoughts and Showtime Reviews

Here is a random thought post and a small random navigation around the blog. 🙂

We have Apink’s Showtime, Exo’s Showtime and Infinite’s Showtime at our blog, written by my sister who likes variety shows. She especially likes these 3 kpop groups. I like Infinite too haha…, surprisingly the only kpop group that I like, maybe because I mostly only hear kdrama osts rather than kpop groups’ songs. I watched the first episode of Infinite’s Showtime with her and it is really good haha, the car driving session is so heartwarming!

I heard from my sister last time that she was quite sad that Exo is somehow separated now. She likes them as a whole. Many groups seem to be changing such as Beast too, another group she likes. I think she watched whichever showtimes there are already, just that she only wrote certain episodes for those 3. Since she manages to write a few episode reviews for each showtime, enjoy if you like these kpop groups!

I even see her quickly finishing up all the Weekly Idol episodes, sometimes still complaining that there are not enough episodes or some being unable to watch. Recently, she showed me the X2 speed dance, random play dance and some high pitch voice competition in Weekly Idol which are funny. When I check the number of Weekly Idol episodes today, I am shocked to see that there are so many, almost similar to the number of running man episodes. :O

For Running Man, I think I only finished every of the first 100 episodes which are entertaining. I especially like those with a story in the background or those that include a mission that has to be carried out before the whole team is caught by the chasers. I also like the museums or historical sites that they visit while carrying out missions. For the first 100 episodes, what I can still remember and laugh at until now are the parts like Gary’s peaceful expressions in pictures no matter how chaotic the photo-taking process is, the rain in the first episode that cover their self-introduction especially Lee Gwang Soo’s- the unlucky one, and the Yoomes Bond episodes. For the rest after 100, when my sister watched every week I just slot in whenever I am free. Of course, I watched the episodes with my favourite actors in them haha… I got to know many different groups and people I would not have known if I didnt watch Running Man. After Running Man change its members, my sister did not watch it much anymore and I also did not get exposed to it anymore haha. Enjoyed the days Running Man episodes made me laughed and made me stay up late to “chase” them.
