I was an attorney who could remember everything. It was my ability as well as my disability. Because of the memories, I was happy and sad at times. Although memories are lost, the fact that I existed does not.

It isn’t your enemy that makes you lonely, it is your friends. I was very lonely because of you.

Long time no blog haha! Hope everyone has been well! Glad to be writing after a while. Has been quite busy and also due to not completely finishing one drama. My passion for dramas seems to be reignited in me again. Good to have this feel! Sometimes, when I am feeling troubled in my life or when I use dramas as a way to escape from reality, the thirst for dramas just isn’t that much and it doesn’t really make me feel fulfilled when watching.
She was pretty (2015) 她真漂亮
Genre: Romance, Comedy
Enjoyment: 10/10 Pace: 9/10 No. of times I watched it: 2
Plot: Kim Hye Jin (Hwang Jung Eum) was a very pretty girl from a rich family. After her family’s publishing company went bankrupt, she experienced hardships and then lost her beauty too. Meanwhile, Ji Sung Joon (Park Seo Joon) was an unattractive and plump boy with low self-esteem, but grows up as a handsome man and successful editor.
Zoom into characters: Ji Sung Joon is often bullied at school due to his appearance until he finally gets a friend, Kim Hye Jin, who is beautiful but treats him as a real friend. Sung Joon’s life changes but they soon lose contact after Sung Joon emigrated overseas and Hye Jin’s family moves house. After many years, they decide to meet again but Hye Jin stood him up after being shocked by Sung Joon’s change, and is embarrassed at her own state. Instead, she asks her best friend, Ha Ri, to become her substitute. Hye Jin finally gets a job at a magazine publishing company (The Most) but to her horror, she ends up working under Sung Joon. On the other hand, Ha Ri slowly falls for Sung Joon. Shin Hyuk is a famous writer in disguise who works at The Most for fun and falls for Hye Jin.
It is funny how Sung Joon is such a workaholic. He bangs into walls and even drinks from a vase instead of a cup due to his constant attention on his I pad. There is an unexpected post-trauma phobia Sung Joon has which I think is effectively used haha. Liked the scene where Hye Jin puts her jacket over their heads as she tried to calm him down in the rain. It linked very well to them when they were young. Enjoyed how Sung Joon grows to depend on others and how Hye Jin grows to be more confident about herself, and starts to pursue her dreams. Liked the chemistry between the couple. Fashion is definitely not what I am good at so I can relate to how Hye Jin can’t recognise the different brands and types of clothes when she is working for a fashion magazine company haha.
Besides the lead characters, I feel that Choi Si Won acted very well. His character is totally different from my normal impression of him haha. His character added lots of comedy to this drama and touching moments at the end of it. Liked Shin Hyuk’s happy-go-lucky personality and how he makes fun of people and jokes with them, especially when with Hye Jin. When I think about him mischievously waiting to see the other person’s reaction after he throws a toy spider at the person, it often makes me feel like laughing.
This drama also revolves around friendship, Ha Ri and Hye Jin+ Hye Jin and Sung Joon. Friends are indeed a huge influence in our lives. I liked how it is portrayed that even having one friend makes all the difference in life. You don’t have to have many people as friends. You just need that one true friend who will not leave you even if you are an outcast or looked down by others! The friendships are well developed within this drama. In addition, I am satisfied with the ending as it gives a very complete end.
Why you should watch: Didn’t expect much from it at first but am really glad that I watched it. Its plot isn’t very extraordinary but it has all the fine touches to a good and heartwarming drama. At every corner, there is just enough warmth, romance, comedy. I enjoyed the romance the most haha. I thought that it is just a typical drama that the male lead is able to accept the female lead despite her appearance. However, there is more to it with a so called subplot that Sung Joon is trying to save a company. Totally a fan of Park Seo Joon now haha.
