Korean Drama Review 14 days

God’s Gift – 14 Days (2014) 神的礼物-14天

Genre: Melodrama, Action, Crime, Thriller, Time-Travel

Enjoyment: 9/10  Pace: 9/10  No. of times I watched it: 1

gods gift poster

starring Lee Bo Young as Kim Soo Hyun, Cho Seung Woo as Ki Dong Chan, Kim Tae Woo as Han Ji Hoon (Soo Hyun’s husband), Jung Gyu Woon as Hyun Woo Jin, Kim Yoo Bin as Han Saet Byul (Soo Hyun’s daughter).

Did not expect the 14 days time-travelling will turn out to be this fruitful. So many things that happened in the past which are left unnoticed are discovered in this time-travel. This makes me wonder if I miss anything around me and take things for what they are when they are not.  Soo Hyun even finds out about her husband’s extra-marital affair which she did not notice before that. The family seems to be a lot happier with less worries before the time-travelling but I guess it is worth it in exchange for Saet Byul’s life. I wonder if Saet Byul’s education is not as important anymore since her life is more important. I don’t think this happens in the real world as it is normal for parents to expect their child to do well in their studies. Haha.

Soo Hyun is really fearless, even fighting personally with potential kidnappers of Saet Byul. This shows her strong mother’s love when her child’s death is approaching. It is funny how Soo Hyun is constantly paranoid about Saet Byul’s safety and repeats about Saet Byul’s death which no one believes her and thinks that she is crazy. It does seem to work as Saet Byul becomes more aware and did not fall straight into the kidnapper’s hands.

Liked Saet Byul’s relationship with Young Gyu, Dong Chan’s mentally challenged nephew. Young Gyu is Dong Chan’s brother’s adoptive son who becomes mentally challenged after being shot on the head by Woo Jin (but Dong Chan thought that he himself shot him). Saet Byul does not mind his disability and still treats him as her best friend. Young Gyu keeps his promise to protect Saet Byul in face of any danger.

Despite Dong Chan being more protective towards Soo Hyun and both of them sharing woes, I  would have liked it more if there is more chemistry. Haha. It is sad that the real murderer of Dong Chan’s girlfriend actually indirectly forced his friends into being his accomplice and made their lives so miserable. Feel sorry for Dong Chan’s brother who did not do anything wrong yet spend years in prison for a brother who is sure his elder brother is the murderer just because he says so.

Korean Drama Review IHYV

I hear your voice (2013) 听见你的声音

Genre: Romance, Fantasy, Comedy, Thriller, Crime, Mystery

Enjoyment: 10/10  Pace: 10/10  No. of times I watched it: 2

ihyv   i hear your voice

starring Lee Jong Suk as Park Soo Ha and Lee Bo Young as Jang Hye Sung.
Kim So Hyun as Jang Hye Sung (young)
Goo Seung Hyun as Soo Ha (child)
Yoon Sang Hyun as Cha Kwan Woo
Lee Da Hee as Seo Do Yeon
Jung Min Ah as Do Yeon (young)
Jung Woong In as Min Joon Gook

Plot: Park Soo Ha played by Lee Jongsuk is a character to look forward to. He can read people’s mind due to a car accident which is useful at the same time cruel to him. Some treats him as a monster. To make things worse, the murderer actually uses Soo Ha’s ability to his advantage and is constantly finding chance to hurt them after he is released from jail. As Hye Sung bravely stood up as a witness when he was young and helped catch the murderer of Soo Ha’s father, Soo Ha is grateful and promised her that he will protect her from the killer when he is released from jail in the future. He will help Hye Sung become a good public defender and has an overly enthusiastic public defender, Kwan Woo, as a love rival.

A lawyer/public defender should not trust a defendant completely (what Kwan Woo did), yet cannot assume what the defendant said is a lie due to evidence just aiming to make the sentence lighter (what Hye Sung did). People will leave a person who did bad things yet do not repent (Do Yeon’s adoptive father). Once a person murders someone, even if the person is the victim, he will turn into a murderer. It is not worth having a crime record for revenge. I would not want to hear people’s thoughts. Ignorance is indeed a blessing at times. Thoughts may not be always good and may be unintentional when one is angry. It would be bad if people are hurt by these unintentional thoughts. The evil guy, Joon Gook, in this drama keeps it going too. While he tries to harm them many times to seek revenge, their relationship improves. I feel a bit sorry for the evil guy as he lost his mother, wife and child. However, he should have treasured his remaining loved ones when he can and not let hatred blind his eyes
