Page Turner Korean Drama Review

Page Turner Korean Drama (2016)

Cast: Kim So Hyun as Yoon Yoo Seul, Ji Soo as Jung Cha Sik, Shin Jae Ha as Suh Jin Mok

Episodes: 3

Review: Yoon Yoo Seol is a girl who was driven by her mother to play the piano. Her mother taught Suh Jin Mok piano when he was young but he played like a machine. Her mother told him to play properly and he thinks that his playing was the same and was good. So he told his father to sack her. Yoo Seol was unhappy and played it the way her mother wanted him to play like. Her mother was shocked that Yoo Seol could play the piano when she did not learn piano. Her mother decided to make her into a pianist. However, it was not her wish. Although she won numerous awards, she was not happy. One day, she got into an accident and lost her sight forever. Her mother still wanted her to play piano despite her losing her eyesight, which made her want to commit suicide. Jun Mok felt very sorry because he prayed for her to be gone and now she really lost her eyesight. She was fortunate that she was saved by Jung Cha Sik from committing suicide.

Jung Cha Sik was a high jump player and loves high jump. Jung Cha Sik beat the school record of high jumping because he did not want the rich couple to look down at his mother. However, when he tried to jump higher, he hurt himself and could never jump again, which brought him into despair. He tired hard not to show his despair in front of his mother and almost wanted to commit suicide too and he sees Yoo Seol and managed to save her from suicide. Jung Cha Sik’s mother knew Cha Sik was in despair and tricked him by saying his father was a famous pianist, which made him practise piano really hard and went to the music school Yoo Seol was in and be her guide. He even wanted Yoo Seol to teach him how to play and enter a competition together. He bet with the other students that if he won the competition, they had to believe that his father is that pianist.

On the actual competition, he realises the truth that his father is not that pianist. He also could not play well so he gave the chance to Ju Mok to play with Yoo Seol. Cha Sik was sad about it and showed to his mother that he could play very well too as her son, which he did. All of them found their dreams and happiness at the same time.

Personal feelings: Weirdly I somehow ship Yoo Seol and Ju Mok because I can feel Ju Mok being sorry for her and trying to do things for her. However, I decided I shall not ship anyone because I think this show is not about couples but about finding happiness in one self. It was overall a nice show that made me cry the first episode and feel happy the last episode.

Sassy Go Go Korean Drama

Sassy Go Go Korean Drama(2015)

Episodes: 12

Cast: Jung Eun Ji as Kang Yeon Doo, Lee Won Geun as Kim Yeol, Ji Soo as Seo Ha Joon, Cha Ha Kyun as Ha Dong Jae, Chae Soo Bin as Kwon Soo Ah.

Recommended Ost: Shooting Stars by HanByulJadu by Turtles Fly and Flowers by Lizzy Feat. Kanto

My review:

This show has things that are used repeatedly, like the “One,…, Two…, Three, …” and “There are friends that will do things with you”, “There are teachers who will stand by you no matter what. Love it!!

And I love both Kim Yeol’s and Seo Ha Joon’s confession, with Kim Yeol, the cheesy fashion, Awwww, and Seo Ha Joon who used the gummy bear to express his feelings. Love it!!!

And I love the strawberry milk thingy. Because they used this as a plot. Like Ha Joon and Kim Yeol jealous about Kang Yeon Doo and Ha Dong Jae drinking that strawbeery milk, Kim Yeol wanting Kang Yeon Doo to drink banana milk to show that they are different and at the end, Kwon Soo Ah stealing the strawberry milk which was meant for Kang Yeon Doo.

I feel that this show is too short so there were some things that were closed pretty quickly, like how Kim Yeol decided to let his father and Kang Yeon Doo’s mother be together and how Seo Ha Joon decided to just let Kim Yeol have Kang Yeon Doo. Seo Ha Joon is too good for a man and a brother already, giving up Kang Yeon Doo instead of snatching from Kim Yeol, his bro.But anyway, I still ship Kim Yeol and Kang Yeon Doo but I pity Ha Joon. Hope Ji Soo gets a role where I can ship him all I want. But overall was good, just feeling that the last episode is a little rush.

Korean Drama Review Angry Mum AM

Angry Mum (2015) 憤怒的媽媽

Genre: Family, School, Politics

Enjoyment: 9/10  Pace: 9/10  No. of times I watched it: 1

Angry_Mom-cp    angrymum

starring Kim Hee Sun as Jo Kang Ja, Ji Hyun Woo as Park No Ah, Kim Yoo Jung as Oh Ah Ran, Yoon Ye Joo as Jin Yi Kyung, Ji Soo as Go Bok Dong, Baro as Hong Sang Tae

I didn’t know what to watch at first and my sister is quite picky about watching dramas and she often drops drama which may make me drop as I usually watch it with her. Well, since this is a school related drama, I decided to try it with her and we managed to finish haha! As a fan of Ji Hyun Woo, I wouldn’t deny that I partially choose it because of that. His character is too ignorant for my liking at the start but I am glad that he grows in the drama from a helpless and naive teacher to a bold teacher who can stand up for the safety of the students and really understand what is going on around him. It is hilarious whenever No Ah treats Kang Ja as a student in need with poor family upbringing (just because she wears an old uniform to fetch Ah Ran in one occasion). It is funny when Kang Ja scolds No Ah with vulgarity or picks a fight once she enters the school and he tries to stop her but to no avail.

It is so “comforting” when Kang Ja beats up the bullies and is not scared of facing any consequences. All types of bullies: the high class, the gangster and the naughty trio cannot really do anything to her. Kang Ja’s friend even pretends to be her mum. There are many scenes that make one feel good after Kang Ja enters the school such as Kang Ja’s friend beating up the vice principal when he wants more money as bribe and Kang Ja knocking sense into many. It is heartwarming how Ah Ran stands up for her friend, Yi Kyung, no matter what. I would be very grateful to have such a friend like Ah Ran. It is heartbreaking when Yi Kyung is pushed to her death by one of the teachers that she once loved (sry for the spoiler).

Liked the students Go Bok Dong and Hong Sang Tae in this drama. Go Bok Dong is a gangster that follows orders from people above. One of the funny things is he likes Kang Ja until he realises her real age. Enjoyed how he decides to  go against the powerful people and finds evidence to arrest the person who murdered Yi Kyung. As the drama goes, I seem to like Sang Tae more and more. At the start, he is just a high class bully with cool spectacles. However, when his family background is revealed and his love for Ah Ran is shown more clearly, he becomes more and more likable and his role becomes more active in the drama. He looks better with spectacles though haha as his looks without spectacles reminds me of him in God’s Gift 14 Days. Feel sorry that he has to go against his father who is powerful yet so self-centered and corrupted.

It is depressing when the school collapses due to poor construction (funds for construction material embezzled by corrupted people) and some students pass away. It moves my heart when Ah Ran’s stepfather (at first portrayed as good-for-nothing) ends up dying in the school when he tries to prevent the school from collapsing to save Ah Ran. I wouldn’t want to study in a school so corrupted haha; parents bribe the vice principal to get the type of questions their children will be tested on; the student with high social status creating study groups and giving out samples of the real examination papers before the examinations. Because of that, the students without a good family background or without enough money for bribery are always not doing as well in the examinations. It was touching when Ah Ran says that it is no use even if she tried her hardest as she cannot easily be the top few in class without cheating.
