The case that touches me the most is Tianxiang’s case. He is a teenager who suffers from brain cancer and passes away soon after. While his peers may be envious of his long leave from school, he just wants to be well and doing what his peers are doing, including sitting for examinations. I cannot imagine the suffering due to the physical pain and mental depression a patient like this faces. It is heartbreaking to see him pass away at such a young age, especially when his parents desperately want him to live. At least he manages to realise his dream and experience being a pilot. This suggests that a short life with dreams is more meaningful than a long life without goals. I don’t think I will ever want to be a doctor or nurse. Although I can help to alleviate their pain, I cannot prevent a patient from passing away. Imagine seeing so many heartbreaking cases in my everyday life…

Bryan Wong’s character added a lot of humour into this drama with his funny, incredulous blurt of “What?!” whenever he does not understand Xinni or with the  funny descriptions he makes. I admire how he is so thrifty (or to the extent of stingy) yet he gives others so generously. He even washes his clothes and bathes at the same time to save money from using his house’s water. When he can simply buy and give others, he would rather make it himself, no matter it is food or clothes. Even his planned wedding does not include a grand banquet as he thinks that it is the affair of just the 2 of them. On the contrary, he gives the grandmother who sells magazines $100 and helps many families in need with his time and money. When he is hospitalised and almost died, I am touched that many of his beneficiaries want to visit him and give him well-wishes.

It is shocking to see (between Xinni and XYZ) that there can be so many misunderstandings one can make of another person. It is sad to see that many of the patients have unfilial children. Some even have no choice but to make another patient his/her guardian who helps to make decisions which is kind of ridiculous. I sympathise with Youle for being badly treated at her brother’s house. In order to make money, her brother and his wife made Youle sleep in a cramp storeroom so that they can rent out Youle’s room. There are many unfair restrictions and “neglect” Youle faced. On the other hand, when her brother faces financial problems and addiction to gambling, she does not hesitate to help out. It is funny how Jiaren keeps changing job from a person who writes critics to lifeguard to actor…

Random thoughts: Should I watch Singapore Drama Super Senior?

Since it’s been some time since I reviewed on a recent Singapore Drama, I shall just write on some random thoughts on Singapore Dramas.

I have been asking myself,
“Is it worth watching Singapore Drama Super Senior for Aloysius Pang and Jayley Woo?”

Super Senior starring many veteran actors and actresses is the currently airing Singapore Drama about how ageing does not affect people negatively. Instead, it can be a positive advantage. Aloysius Pang acting as a doctor has been “stalking” Jayley Woo’s character who later becomes a nurse and finally gets to date her (if I am not wrong). Due to his father’s death later on, Aloysius Pang’s character decides to quit being a doctor and become a hawker (food vendor) to succeed his father’s business much to his mother’s disapproval.

Did catch a few scenes of their chemistry which is a lot more sweet than them in Tiger Mum. When they finally got together in Tiger Mum, it feels a bit awkward to me and not as natural. Well, my sister did comment that Aloysius Pang looks too young for his role in Super Senior but he still looks good in the role (to me). Haha.

It is highly likely that I may skip this drama as a whole though unless convinced otherwise… Looking forward to the upcoming The Journey: Our Homeland. Can’t wait to see Romeo Tan acting as both the evil villain and Zhang Min’s son. Zhang Yan is really horrible, the cause of misfortune. Feel so sad for Zhang Jia that in the trailer Minhui passes away.
