Scanned through Korean Drama Review Where stars land WSL

Doing this by memory. Finished scanning through it at around December 2018.

Where Stars Land/Fox Bride Star (2018) 狐狸新娘星

starring Lee Je Hoon as Lee Soo Yeon, Nam Da Reum as Soo Yeon (young), Chae Soo Bin as Han Yeo Reum, Lee Dong Gun as Seo In Woo, Kim Ji Soo as Yang Seo Koon, Lee Sung Wook as Choi Moo Ja, Kim Kyung Nam as Oh Dae Ki, Lee Soo Kyung as Na Young Joo, Ro Woon as Go Eun Sub

The pace for this drama is very good for the first few episodes until Soo Yeon’s confession scene. Chased this drama until there. There are many emergencies at the airport and I enjoyed watching how the staff deals with the situations. It is interesting to know about the happenings at the airport. Felt that Soo Yeon’s emotional struggle shines through in this drama. However, it was a pity that the distinct characteristics of the character Soo Yeon is gone after the confession scene.

Liked how Soo Yeon just wants to live a normal life and how he is strict towards his subordinate and frank at the start. There are many behaviours he has that makes him different from the norm and I enjoyed watching that. For example, the reason why he chooses to work at the airport is because he can hide in the many people there and just focus on doing his duties, he doesnt answer his superiors and even questions if he has to do what he is being told to do, he is quick-witted and good at dealing with emergencies or difficult people. Liked how he is portrayed as Yeo Reum’s superhero at the start, saving Yeo Reum twice with his quick moves and metallic arm. It is cool when he does so. This is the reason why I started watching this drama. It is cool how his metallic arm can bend metal poles and lift cars and it is funny how he breaks things easily when he knocks into them. Laughed at the scene where the water dispenser breaks apart some time after his “attempt” to repair it. It was painful to watch when he starts to lose control of his metalllic arm and when the metallic arm starts to attract magnetic objects and he has to pull himself from the objects.

It is fine if Soo Yeon compromises a little here and there due to Yeo Reum’s influences but his whole character seems to change after the confession scene which to me, is a flaw that cant be ignored in this drama. Liked the chemistry and tension between Soo Yeon and Yeo Reum which are just nice in their relationship. It is funny how the dust robot cleaner follows Soo Yeon and even ships Soo Yeon and Yeo Reum once. Liked how Yeo Reum is compassionate. However, was unable to relate to her emotional struggles. Liked the scene where Yeo Reum thanks Soo Yeon for saving her in the past, no matter he remembers her or not.

Liked how this drama delves into the topic of disability. Liked how Soo Yeon’s emotional struggle was portrayed. His fear of drawing people’s attention and how he thinks that people can hurt him just by looking is well-portrayed (cant remember exactly). Liked the scene where Soo Yeon decides to tell Yeo Reum the truth about himself by meeting her on a wheelchair. That scene left a deep impression on me as he falls from his wheelchair down the steps while trying to get his phone (?) and had difficulty getting up, which nicely shows the struggles he faces due to the disability. However, they should have let Yeo Reum be with the disabled Soo Yeon at least for some time to show that Yeo Reum can accept his disability as a part of him.

Another highlight of this drama is the security team couple. Liked the development of relationship and chemistry between them. Liked how Dae Ki manages to find out many things about Young Joo which she tried to hide. Liked how Dae Ki says that he doesnt like puppy faces but likes cat faces. It is such an accurate description and it is so sweet haha. Liked both of the characters and their interactions with Soo Yeon and Yeo Reum.

Liked the friendship between Eun Sub and Yeo Reum. Liked Soo Yeon and Yeo Reum’s superior who stands up for them when needed and assures them that she is there to help them if they make mistakes. Could have had more depth in the relationship between her and the security superior.

Confession scene in Where Stars Land

One of the most refreshing and cool confession scenes I have seen haha. Enjoy! Had trouble putting part of it in instagram so putting it here instead.

Korean Drama Review I am not a robot IANAR

So busy with school work and other commitments recently that I dont have time to blog haha. Since there is a serious lack of dramas that attract me to watch nowadays, shall take some time to write a review. After kdramas move away from fantasy, I occasionally move to China (modern) drama and taiwanese drama but of course they are not enough. Sadly, sg dramas nowadays dont capture my attention too, dont have any that I watch the trailer and straightaway feel “I want to watch this”, maybe “Give me a million dollar” that is coming up next haha?

Once I saw that this drama is going to include Yoo Seung Ho and human allergy on dramabeans, I felt like watching it already and was waiting for it to be screened. It took “so long” for it to be confirmed and to be screened. Finished this drama some time ago and doing this by memory.

I am not a robot (2017-2018) 不是機器人啊

Genre: Science fiction, Romance, Comedy

Enjoyment: 10/10  Pace: 9/10, 8.5/10 towards the end  No. of times I watched it: 2

starring Yoo Seung Ho as Kim Min Kyu, Chae Soo Bin as Jo Ji Ah / Aji 3, Uhm Ki Joon as Hong Baek Kyun, Park Se Wan as Pie, Song Jae Ryong as Hok Tal, Kim Min Kyu as Ssan Ip, Kang Ki Young as Hwang Yoo Chul, Hwang Seung Eon as Ye Ri ElSeo Dong Won as Jo Jin Bae

Enjoyed the chemistry, sweet interaction and the development of relationship between Min Kyu and Ji Ah when Ji Ah acts as the robot. It is funny how Min Kyu likes it when Aji 3 is in “friend mode”, scolding him and saying swear words haha. There are many hilarious scenes at the start like when they first met and Ji Ah acting as the robot was shocked to see him. It was fun to watch how Ji Ah responds to Min Kyu’s “difficult” assessment when there was a power cut and she could not connect with the real robot. It is surprising how Min Kyu doesnt realise that she is a human but I guess it could be due to his lack of interaction with humans. I could feel the warmth when Ji Ah pats him on the back when he was choked. Although the scene that the girl falls backwards and the guy supports her is quite cliche, it is well-used in this drama to portray Ji Ah’s feelings for Min Kyu. Liked how they give each other smiles, reassurance and support. Loved Ji Ah’s inventions (I wrote about in the instagram posts) which fit in nicely with the plot to make the scenes more romantic and beautiful.

My sister felt very sad when Min Kyu resets Aji 3, probably due to the other person not remembering anything after that and Min Kyu is the only one that remembers everything, happy or sad. I didnt feel totally sad as I know that the memory will still be present in Ji Ah, the person.

Became a fan of Yoo Seung Ho since I saw him acting in Arang and the Magistrate, not sure if I wrote it somewhere before. Is it unexpected haha? It was not the lead role but the role he played as the Jade Emperor in heaven was quite significant and I liked his acting. Felt that Yoo Seung Ho is really good at acting in melodrama since I saw him acting in melodramas I miss you and Remember-War of the sons. Somehow, even his romantic comedies have a touch of melodrama such as Operational Proposal and this drama. I dont think I feel sad or see characters feel so sad in other romantic comedies. (Just for your information, melodrama is characterized by a plot that appeals to the heightened emotions of the audience. Didnt know what it means in the past when I saw it appearing in some genres of dramas and thought it meant sad plots haha.)

Liked how Yoo Seung Ho displayed the character’s mixed emotions or conflicting emotions, for example when Min Kyu feels angry and pleased when Aji 3 patted his back when he was choked; feeling happy with Aji 3’s response and unhappy when thinking that Aji 3’s response is just robot programming; desperately wanting to train Aji 3 to be what it was before the resetting. Didnt know that a handshake can be so painful. When Min Kyu shakes hands with Ri El, his childhood crush, he knows he will suffer a serious allergic reaction but still forces himself to go through with it to show that he is normal. Chae Soo Bin acted well to portray Ji Ah’s conflicting feelings and her despair as she desires so much to say that she is not a robot and reciprocate her love and feelings for him but she cannot do so. She portrayed her character’s struggle to be an innovator+entrepreneur well and carved different qualities into Ji Ah, righteous, determined, creative, impulsive, optimistic.

It was interesting to see how Min Kyu treats his robots as his friends and helps them celebrate their birthdays haha. His house is really big. It’s good to be rich haha. My sister feels that if she is rich even if she is alone, it’s also ok as she can play all the facilities in the big house. Maybe I think so too? Since I am also an introvert like her who doesnt like to interact with people too much and rather have my own alone time.

The characters Hok Tal and Ssan Ip added humour to the drama such as when they wanted to have a swim in Min Kyu’s swimming pool and have a shock of their lives when they see him at the bottom of the pool staring at them haha. While they act like children, they are loyal people to whoever they follow and best buddies for each other. Liked the interaction between people of the Santa Maria team, Baek Kyun, Pie, Hok Tal and Ssan Ip. They are optimistic even in bad times and work together towards a common goal. Enjoyed how they gradually become closer to Min Kyu, not getting along well with Min Kyu at the start but slowly being allowed to enter his world and be his friends. The professor, Baek Kyun, is not suitable for Ji Ah since he is unable to see her strengths and help her fulfill her potential no matter how smart he is. He is better suited to Pie who has good rapport with him and understands the technical terms he uses.

Liked the interaction between Min Kyu and his loyal subordinate, Jin Bae. Because Jin Bae works for Min Kyu, he is ostracised by other people working in the company as Min Kyu is known for being a crazy person and firing any employee that he sees after he announces his arrival at the company, and they dont want to be seen taking Min Kyu’s side to be safe. It was funny when Jin Bae has to hide his face with a file when there is one time when Min Kyu almost loses his position at the company (if i didnt remember wrongly). It was fun to watch when Min Kyu almost cures his allergy and happily goes to the company to work, and those who sees him run away quickly in shock or they are in shock for being caught for bad-mouthing him. Nice to watch Min Kyu finally working at the company, walking freely, and eating lunch+being able to be at a close distance with Jin Bae. Liked how Jin Bae is such a loyal person to Min Kyu but i didnt like how he treats his sister poorly at the start of the drama with his pragmatic mindset, thinking she only has unrealistic dreams. It feels awkward when they realise Ji Ah’s brother is Jin Bae and Jin Bae seems a lot older than Min Kyu but taking orders from him haha.

It was a bit of a drag towards the end as it focuses more on company politics and there is the fall out between Ji Ah and Min Kyu after he realises that human Ji Ah was the robot and felt cheated.

Why you should watch: Enjoyed the acting by the cast (especially Yoo Seung Ho haha), the interesting plot, humour, and the pace of the drama (for 3/4 of it). The drama started out very well and I was chasing after it for 3/4 of it. Liked the perspective that the drama takes. May look out for Chae Soo Bin’s future dramas.

KBS drama special episodes review

Hi everyone haha!

Due to a lack of dramas that can entertain me a week, I tried watching kbs drama specials with my sister but it didnt turn out too well haha… Every week, I wait for While you were sleeping to be screened. But I remember that when I chased I hear your voice, the anticipation feeling was higher. Tried Borg Mum but after a certain episode when Go Bong becomes extremely worried that he has fallen in love with a robot and escapes from the problem, it didnt attract me anymore. Black is too crime related and involves too much details, though its creepiness and grim are attractive. Even if I do continue, it will be a quick browse through. Hospital Ship, to my sister, is too mature for her liking. I am still continuing it myself mainly to see Kang Min Hyuk haha and the romance between the lead couple, even though I am not entertained enough by the drama.

Kbs drama special episodes I watched in one night

What is the ghost up to? (2015)

Liked Lee Joon’s acting since seeing him in Gap Dong and Vampire Detective though I didnt finish both as they are crime related dramas that didnt quite suit my taste. In this one episode, his character is quite funny with his hilarious angry outbursts or his crazy screaming when he sees the ghost haha. His girlfriend broke up with him and her reason/criticism haunts him. Although he does well academically, he seems crippled by her remarks and cannot get a job or move on well in life…until… one day, she returns and wants him to find her boyfriend. He is angry but pities her and decides to help her which leads to a surprise revelation. Shall not give too much spoiler haha. Towards the end, I actually felt tears flowing out of my eyes even though I skipped through certain parts in between towards the end. At the first time I watched, I was hit hard due to the words she wrote in her notes and the second time I watched with my sister that night, it was at the final “pop goes the weasel” part.

You can watch it in Youtube.

Next, I decided to watch something that looks nice on the cover.

If we were a season (KBS Drama special 2017 Episode 1)

Like the title haha! The development of the relationship of the lead characters is well portrayed from young to their high school days and nights, showing how they play or pass messages through a window between their houses from young to how they naturally watch out for each other in school. The scenery and weather fit nicely with the plot and beautifies the story. It is a typical love triangle story but I liked the lead couple’s acting and chemistry. Liked Jang Dong-Yoon here more than in School 2017. Jin Young’s character has no place in between them haha. My sister is a fan of Jin Young but she says he looks out of place as he doesnt even look like a high schooler, like the rest of them haha. She feels that when he jokes with Chae Soo Bin’s character, it felt cold instead of cheesy. I was quite baffled by the family background story towards the end. When I reached the ending, I felt like shouting at the screen “No…Why?!” :/

Things seem to be going downhill.

Finally, my last episode of the night

Waltzing Alone (KBS Drama special 2017 Episode 4)

When I looked at the title, I should have been warned. But unfortunately, when I browsed through YouTube quickly, none of the pictures or plots of other drama special episodes attracted me so I thought I should give it a try. Maybe it will turn out to be a beautiful heartwarming story?

The story especially at the start is beautiful but unfortunately it wasnt heartwarming but heartbreaking. The lingering regrets and heartbreaks of the episode, especially when they had their final breakdown, was hard to get rid of haha. And when I am writing this, the feeling is coming back aaahhhh. Loved the dancing of waltz (something I want to learn one day haha) as the theme throughout the episode, especially at the start where the scenes showed how the lead couple danced through life together, depicted through the different attires and locations as they dance and dance and dance. (Yeo Hoi-Hyeon looks more and more good looking as the episode goes haha.) It is romantic and whenever they dance or are in the waltz footwork they seem blissful, shielded from the harsh reality of the world.

However, the reality of the competitive corporate life and the pressure to get a permanent job soon catch up with both of them as they are rejected by one company after another. When they had to compete for the same job position, it turns out to be a cruel battle which could have been resolved if they decide to have a fair competition. 😦

Lesson learnt:  Not going to have too much kbs drama special in one dose since it is bound to affect my mood. Maybe once a month haha? Wonder if all of them end up sad? Haha, but I think I will stay away from them for a while…  If you are looking for a so-called movie or want to borrow something’s help to cry and release stress or just want to feel “stabbed” or give yourself a reason to be sad, maybe you can try them.

Sassy Go Go Korean Drama

Sassy Go Go Korean Drama(2015)

Episodes: 12

Cast: Jung Eun Ji as Kang Yeon Doo, Lee Won Geun as Kim Yeol, Ji Soo as Seo Ha Joon, Cha Ha Kyun as Ha Dong Jae, Chae Soo Bin as Kwon Soo Ah.

Recommended Ost: Shooting Stars by HanByulJadu by Turtles Fly and Flowers by Lizzy Feat. Kanto

My review:

This show has things that are used repeatedly, like the “One,…, Two…, Three, …” and “There are friends that will do things with you”, “There are teachers who will stand by you no matter what. Love it!!

And I love both Kim Yeol’s and Seo Ha Joon’s confession, with Kim Yeol, the cheesy fashion, Awwww, and Seo Ha Joon who used the gummy bear to express his feelings. Love it!!!

And I love the strawberry milk thingy. Because they used this as a plot. Like Ha Joon and Kim Yeol jealous about Kang Yeon Doo and Ha Dong Jae drinking that strawbeery milk, Kim Yeol wanting Kang Yeon Doo to drink banana milk to show that they are different and at the end, Kwon Soo Ah stealing the strawberry milk which was meant for Kang Yeon Doo.

I feel that this show is too short so there were some things that were closed pretty quickly, like how Kim Yeol decided to let his father and Kang Yeon Doo’s mother be together and how Seo Ha Joon decided to just let Kim Yeol have Kang Yeon Doo. Seo Ha Joon is too good for a man and a brother already, giving up Kang Yeon Doo instead of snatching from Kim Yeol, his bro.But anyway, I still ship Kim Yeol and Kang Yeon Doo but I pity Ha Joon. Hope Ji Soo gets a role where I can ship him all I want. But overall was good, just feeling that the last episode is a little rush.
