Hi again haha

I am back again. After much consideration, I have decided and told my sister that I will still be blogging even in this month. No matter what happens with Google, it should not affect whether I should blog or not.

After all, I started a blog with my sister to channel our favourite hobby- watching dramas into something productive, something that not only helps us with our writing skills, but also something that can help others, be shared with others. Even if there is just one person visiting our blog, I should still continue sharing. I wont be losing anything anyway.

So, before I become busy again, I will add on as many reviews as I can. Thanks again for the support for this blog! 🙂

The Miracle(2017) Korean Web Drama

The Miracle (2017)
Cast: Kim Na Hyun as Kwon Shi Ah, Hong Yoon Hwa as Kwon Shi Yeon, Kim Dong Hyun as Ban Hae Sung and Yang Hak Jin as Han Gyo Seok

Episodes: 12

Reviews: It is about a fraternal twin who live completely different lives as Kwon Shi Ah has looks and everything while Kwon Shi Yeon does not. Kwon Shi Ah is a rude girl who became an idol and joined a kpop group to show that her popularity can help the group. She was not in good terms with Ban Hae Sung as they criticised each other when they had to be advertisers of a product. While Kwon Shi Ah gains such huge popularity, Kwon Shi Yeon prefers staying at home and record her voice and songs in her own radio station without showing her look.

One day, Kwon Shi Yeon saved a taror card reader while searching for his dog and the tarot card reader let her choose a card. She got “The Miracle” card which nobody picked before and she got to choose a wish she truly wanted, which was to change looks with her sister and was given a wishing charm. The journey continues as both sisters experience each other’s life. Did them switching lives make them a better person? What are some challenges they will face in this journey? Is Shi Yeon happy after living Si Ah’s life? And what is the wishing charm for? Watch to find out more.

My review: I realise many fantasy web dramas have a moral of the story behind it. Firstly, this show teach us not to be greedy of what others have and be contented with everythinf we have. Kwon Shi Yeon is happy living Kwon Si Ah’s life as she started loving Ban Hae Sung. This resulted her in being more greedy and wishing for things using the wishing charm, which has a consequence behind every wish and this may hurt the people you love. Secondly, no matter how you look, you will definitely still be precious in the eyes of the one who loves you for looks is not what that is the most important.

I really enjoyed watching this show as the twins improved each other’s life when they switched body and of course the love stories in the show, especially how the sisters came to live each other. It is definitely one of the good fantasy korean web drama I watched.

Third Colour Fantasy: Queen of The Ring

Queen of The Ring

Cast: Kim Seul Gi as Nan Hee and Ahn Hyo-Seop as Se Gun

Episodes: 6

Review: This web drama is part of the three colour fantasy and it is about Nan Hee who is ugly whose look was not accepted by others. Se Gun is a handsome clothes designer who like pretty girls. One day, they chance upon each other at a model show(details please watch the drama). She fell in love with him but did not know what to do as she was not pretty and attractive. Nan Hee’s mother gave her a ring which make her look pretty in the eyes of Se Gun in order to date with him.
Want to find out more? Please watch the drama to know what happens after that.
My review: It has been long time since I have the urge to watch drama. But the drama definitely relates to me very well and makes me have a deeper understanding of love, which is to accept one self despite of her outlooks or shortcomings. I was quite happy that they ended up together(I have always been waiting for that since the start of the drama). From this drama, I better understand that the beauty that comes from within makes a person most beautiful. So, we shall never judge a book by its cover. This is definitely a very sweet and cute storyline. I really hope everyone’s true love will like each other truthfully and not hide your real personalities to the people you love. If you want to find out what truly makes a relationship work for a long time? Check it out by watching the drama.

KBS special 2016 ep 4 review Home Sweet Home

Suddenly spotted this while watching KBS award ceremony as the leads were nominated. And thus, was attracted to watch this!

homesweethome     homesweethome-2

It feels like a movie as it is just one episode so it is a quick watch for me, too short for my liking as I am not my sister haha. The overall feel of the episode, especially the start, is very dark as it deals with the female lead, a genius scientist, making a person she likes into a cyborg so she can live with him forever, and also distorts his past memory so he only remembers her and their happy times. At first, I was a bit curious yet disturbed by the female lead’s behaviour as she is not only mysterious but also scarily domineering. However, when more is revealed I feel sorry for the female lead who has to live her life in such misery. Liked Lee Sang-Yeob’s acting as the cyborg in this episode! Expected the ending and kind of satisfied with it. Shall not give any more spoiler…Watch it to know more!

Seven First Kisses Korean Web Drama

Seven First Kiss(2017)

Cast: Choi Ji Woo, Soo Jin, Lee Joon Gi, Park Hae Jin, Ji Chang Wook, EXO Kai, Taecyeon, Lee Jong Suk, Lee Min Ho

Episodes: 8

Review: Soo Jin is a lady who had not dated before in her whole life. She works in Lotte Duty free at the information counter. One day, Choi Ji Woo came aand ask questions at the counter and she left her notebook there by accident. Soo Jin went to find her and give he4 back her notebook and Choi Ji Woo thanked her by giving her a wish. Soo Jin said in her mind that she wanted to date and this how the six guys came about.
The first guy is Lee Joon Ki who liked her since young and confessed to her with flowers. The second guy is Park Hae Jin who is the boss of the Lotte Duty Free and saved her when she was in danger. The third is Ji Chang Wook who is a secret angent and fell in love with her who was an ex-secret agent. The fourth is EXO Kai who was her student who fall in love with her. The fifth is Taecyeon who is a rich guy and decided to relinquish his inheritance to marry Soo Jin. The sixth is Lee Jong Suk, a famous celebrity who took a photoshoot with Soo Jin.
When Soo Jin kissed them, she will return back to reality. She was sad. Choi Ji Woo came to her and told her that she could only choose one of them.
There is a bonus episode in the show where travel writer Lee Min Ho comes to the Lotte Duty Free counter and ask for help and Soo Jin thought he came for her, which was after that true
My review: Honestly, I watched this show because I wanted to know how they end the story. How the guys came here were like magic so I thought that they will actually be gone after that and Soo Jin finds her true love. It is actually quite difficult to choose among them as they all look quite good, so if I were her, I would not choose any but go back to my current state of life. Overall, the show is quite okay and it shows the different types of love that happen in drama.

Super quick review on what I have been doing

Oh no! My laziness is really stopping me from churning out reviews haha. There are so many things to do and when I have the time to sit down and rest, it is used to watch more dramas…

Currently, I finished watching Hwarang- the beginning which wasnt as good as how it started. Came out as a Park Hyung Sik fan. Too bad Park Seo Joon doesnt seem to fit having a historical person’s hairstyle if not I would have liked his character a lot more.

For Goblin, i am left with 2 episodes as I wanted Goblin to reincarnate and the others try to make him remember them which he totally deserves but then at the end, Goblin is still the one that suffers so much by being able to remember others who dont even remember him. Why is Goblin’s punishment so hugh? Does his crime really deserve such punishment haha?

Wanted to finish Legend of the blue sea but my sister said it was boring towards the end so I didnt manage to finish watching as I usually watch with her 😦 but will continue some day.

Will finish Hero sg drama review soon… For Singapore Dramas, I looked at Home Truly and Dream Coders but they didnt attract my attention so see how, maybe the next one?

Happily finished Back to 1989 Taiwanese Drama which is really a smooth and good watch although the plot about time travelling is quite common.

Starting out on Strong woman Do Bong Soon which will be a long and crazy wait, oh no!

Will definitely force myself to sit down to blog “properly” one day soon!

Korean Drama Review W-2 worlds

W-2 worlds (2016) W-两个世界

Genre: Fantasy, Romance, Comedy, Metafiction, Suspense

Enjoyment: 10/10  Pace: 9/10  No. of times I watched it: 1

w-kdrama

starring Lee Jong Suk as Kang Chul, Han Hyo Joo as Oh Yun Joo, Jung Yoo Jin as Yoon So Hee (Kang Chul’s secretary), Lee Tae Hwan as Seo Do Yoon (Kang Chul’s bodyguard), Kim Eui Sung as Oh Sung Moo (manhwa author/artist, Yun Joo’s father), Lee Shi Un as Park Soo Bong (Oh Sung Moo’s assistant)

Plot: The drama is about two people from two different worlds-the fiction and the real world. Cardiothoracic surgeon novice Oh Yun-joo (Han Hyo-joo) goes to her father’s office looking for him and ends up being pulled into the webtoon world that her father created. In the process, she saves a dying Kang Chul, becomes a main character in the webtoon, falls in love and works with Kang Chul to get rid of the villain so as to safely escape with him to the real world.

Zoom into characters: Kang Chul is framed for killing his whole family and lives a life of misery as an outcast who cannot even mourn for the loss of his family properly. It was so miserable for him that he decides to commit suicide according to the storyline. However, the story took for a turn when he refuses to obey the command of the author and hangs on for dear life. Because of that, a new-found will grows in him and he is determined to survive and catch the murderer of his family. From then on, Yun Joo’s father is flustered that he cannot control his webtoon characters and becomes fearful of his own creation. As Yun Joo reads her father’s webtoon, she likes Kang Chul more and more and empathises with him. Her world is turned upside down when she enters the webtoon time and again due to Kang Chul thinking about her since their first encounter and she has to figure out how to return to her world.

Although people may complain that it is too brain-cracking as it goes, I found it quite a fun watch and like most of the crazy things like the “rules” that can allow Yun Joo to go back to the real world, rules that can allow Kang Chul to travel to and fro the 2 worlds and many others that are slowly revealed. There are also some moments that I found ridiculously funny such as when Yun Joo’s father lose his face (sry for the spoiler), and is controlled by the murderer in the story or that Kang Chul can summon characters to the real world by thinking of them as well. Besides making me question if there is another dimension and whether I live in the real world haha, this drama also makes me wonder if authors have the right to control characters’ fate (especially giving tragic ending) just like how in real life people in power tend to influence the fate of the weak without caring about what they think.

Found it funny when Yun Joo’s father’s assistant, Soo Bong, becomes more and more fearful of his job since evil characters are coming to life. Enjoyed how this drama portrays how the fans react to fictional characters with Yun Joo’s superior always wanting to find out what will happen next in the webtoon or criticising the plot twist (caused by Yun Joo), and people being excited when they see Kang Chul in real life. Sounds familiar in real life? The faceless murderer in hood really is scary. Kim Eui Sung acted well as both Yun Joo’s protective father, and the shameless and cunning villain. Funny how Yun Joo and her father’s life are so dramatically messed up by a webtoon, and they cant even control the outcomes in the story which brings about life and death situations to them too.

Love the relationship built between Kang Chul and Yun Joo and their chemistry, my most favourite part of this drama! It was fun to watch how Kang Chul keep thinking of Yun Joo and summoning her to his world much to Yun Joo’s exasperation. Liked their romance from how it starts: Kang Chul thinking of Yun Joo as the key to his life while Yun Joo is such a fan, to their lovely marriage to save Yun Joo, to their fight together against the villain and sacrifices made towards the end. Especially liked how Kang Chul makes the effort to use a book which depicts different romantic scenes as a guide and asks Yun Joo to choose so that he can follow through with it, so clumsy but cheesy in expressing his love!

Felt heartbreaking for Yun Joo when Kang Chul summoned her even though he lost his memory, making her come to his world briefly when she is in his subconscious. Knew that no matter what Yoon Joo will somehow be dragged into his world… Finally, liked Han Hyo Joo’s excited reactions a lot, especially at the start of the drama as well as how Lee Jong Suk depicts his character’s emotional struggle which adds depth to the plot and make his defiance and depressing times more moving.

Why you should watch: It has a very refreshing storyline where we get to learn about how fiction is made: the main plot, the rules in the fiction world and the characters. It is so unconventional and interesting to give life as well as a voice to fictional characters. Watched this some time ago but I guess I was attracted by the plot, and the cast, Lee Jong Suk and Han Hyo Joo. Was I chasing each episode? Feel that I did. Cant really remember haha…

Singapore Web Drama Review 勾魂使者

soulreaper

This is a pretty short drama consisting of just 8 episodes. Attracted to this drama because of Romeo Tan’s mysterious acting as a soul reaper in the trailer but end up liking Ian Fang’s character, Soul. His name totally matches this drama haha… How I wish Ian Fang (or maybe all the actors) has this hairstyle more often in dramas (am I being influenced by kdramas haha?).

Random drama browsing review

My current status:
Man living in the house, Cheese in the trap- 2 more episodes left, no urge to watch
Those reviews that I havent wrote (W-2 worlds, Shopping King Louie, Let’s fight ghost) also no urge to write haha…
Currently watching: Legend of the blue sea, Goblin, Hwarang the beginning, God of noodles (heard that bad ending)
Hero sg drama-writing as soon as i can

The “good news” is I finished browsing through Jealousy Incarnate and Madame Antoine through recaps- Noonas over forks and Dramabeans! Did it so quickly i seem like i am staring at the phone all day.  I wouldnt have had so much patience to watch these two dramas if i watch it one episode at a time. Had a fun time just zooming through them. Since I browsed through them, the details may not be correct.

madameantoine     madame-antoine-16-12

As I love psychology a lot, this drama is quite relevant to me but somehow it just doesnt attract me as it is too slow pace for me and the whole drama just circles around an experiment (which involves 3 guys pursuing a girl) that Choi Soo Hyun (Sung Joon), a psychologist, conducts to prove that there is no such thing as everlasting or true love. There are many cases which makes it feel like a boring report by case since the main storyline is not strong enough for me.

However, what piqued my curiosity to start reading the recaps is when I heard of Soo Hyun’s behaviour of feeling pain when a droplet drops on his hand, likely due to past trauma despite being a psychologist himself.

jealousyincarnate     jealousyincarnate2

Next~ to Jealousy Incarnate! Randomly went to read the recaps since I have been curious about this drama for some time. It has 24 episodes and the storyline is too dry for me haha so I would have dropped it after watching a few episodes.

I thought that it is just about some news anchors, reporters, office politics type of drama but after reading the recaps, I realised that there is a sub-plot of a man fighting breast cancer which is totally unexpected… What really made me continue reading the recaps is how interesting the sub-plot is as Hwa Shin (Jo Jung Suk) furtively goes for his treatment in a clinic filled with women, wears post-operation bra after operation, uses Na Ri’s (Gong Hyo Jin) name to register for radiation appointments etc. It just feels awkward haha even though I didnt watch most of it but just read the recaps.

Thanks to recap writers! I would never have such patience to write recaps for each episode dutifully. Sometimes I wonder if reading recaps will cause people to miss out what is contained in the drama itself or they may choose the faster way out by reading instead of watching but for now I think that it helps me experience dramas that I wouldnt have been able to without recaps.
