China Drama Review Super Star Academy 超星星学园

Super Star Academy (2016) 超星星学园

Enjoyment: 10/10  Pace: 10/10, 9/10 sometimes  No. of times I watched it: 2

starring Xiao Zhan as Fang Tian Zhe, Wang Yu Wen as Cheng Zhi Er, Bai Shu as Wan Shi Cun, Wu Jia Cheng as Shen Hao, Peng Chu Yue as Li Ya Dang, Xu Xiao Lu as Huo Bei Bei, Gu Jia Cheng as Su Ge La Di, Guo Zi Fan as Zhou Dong, Hong Chen as Bai Bai, Zhao Lei as Mao Zi Jian, Chen Ze Xi as Fu Liwei, You You as Xiao Ai

My sister watched this drama some time ago (before Xiao Zhan becomes famous) and sometimes mentioned it to me, making me curious about it. But the way that I imagined what the drama is like based on how she described it is a little different from the drama itself haha. She made the drama seem darker when she said that many people die towards the end and there is chaos. Maybe it is just my own imagination haha. Decided to watch it due to lack of fantasy dramas to watch.

Loved the fantasy in the drama. Every horoscope has its own distinctive supernatural power. For example, running very fast for Aries, invisibility for Cancer, lion roar for Leo, making people slow down for Libra, controlling people and predicting the future for Aquarius, splitting into identical selves for Gemini, reflecting attacks for Scorpio, impersonation for Pisces etc. Liked the competitions carried out for the students.

It is cool when they use their supernatural power. The coolest and most powerful supernatural power to me is the one Leo has. When Shi Cun battles Tian Zhe, he blows out tunes of many songs and the attacks are strong. His roars are also powerful. My sister also likes Leo’s power the most. She feels that Shi Cun’s attack is gentle but cruel. Although Tian Zhe may not use his power much for the first half of the drama, I liked how Tian Zhe uses his power for crucial moments like splitting into identical selves to save Zhi Er and having 2 of him pull Zhi Er up from the cliff edge since one of him wasnt strong enough. Felt that Tian Zhe’s power is well-used to evoke certain atmosphere. There is one time that he escapes from his house to have a secret date with Zhi Er and leaves an identical self at home. Then, his mother realises it and the conversation between the mother and the other self was touching and it seems like his real self heard it as his identical self at home disappears after that and there is some sadness on his face. Another time is when his mother is being put under house arrest (?) and he splits into identical selves to serve the elders so that he can go in to see her. When they allow him to visit, all the identical selves clumsily rush to the door haha. The only time that I feel that the power of impersonation that the Pisces has is good is when Xiao Ai uses it to comfort Bei Bei. It is a warm comforting method as she takes on the identity of the person Bei Bei likes to hug her instead of using her own identity. Felt that the power of Aries is cool to watch but it is more useful for escaping than battles. The power of Aquarius is quite common but a scene that left an impression is where Bai Bai pats Shi Cun’s back and he moves quickly away from her saying that he is also afraid of cockroach (Bai Bai claimed that she just used her hand to catch a cockroach to Xiao Ai).

This drama has many comedy scenes. The comedy scenes are sometimes quite unexpected, weird, and out of place or sudden. Some may think that it is a bit overused but I think it is fine haha. For example, Shi Cun and the Ophiuchus leader meeting at the rooftop and being all serious then Shi Cun asks why they need to meet at the rooftop. Then, the Ophiuchus leader says that it happens often in movies and Shi Cun says that those people dont choose 2pm in the afternoon. They then wipe off their sweat. They have funny after-school activities like “Ex-boyfriend go and die” club. I found the comedy scenes (even the weird ones) quite amusing and they made the drama more fun to watch. Found the Ophiuchus people’s behaviours funny, especially when they are chasing Zhi Er to recapture her. One follows the rules of the traffic light and cant catch up, the other says that it is time to get off work when he already can catch her, another ends up competing with a random runner on the street, some cant help but pick up money someone dropped and they keep asking the others to chase her but no one bothers and the funny part is Zhi Er also cant resist picking up the money. Tian Zhe’s mother is hilarious at times.

Felt that there are many distinctive characters and I liked many of them. Liked how Tian Zhe, Ya Dang, and Bei Bei have a loyal follower each. Liked how Ya Dang is hilarious at times and how he is good at singing. Loved the scene that he sings “1000 reasons to feel sad” with his band, including Zi Jian, under the bridge coincidentally while Shi Cun is watching Tian Zhe hugging Zhi Er. Liked the relationship between Zi Jian and Ya Dang. Liked the couple Zhou Dong and Bai Bai. Throughout the drama, they are saying cheesy words to each other and I had fun watching how sweet they are together. Liked the scene before they battle Zi Jian and the scene where Zhou Dong carries an umbrella for Bai Bai when they are in the mountains and gives her anything she asks for. Both of them are smart and they work well together. At first, I didnt find Shen Hao good-looking but as the drama goes, I found Shen Hao more and more good-looking haha. Liked the relationship between Shen Hao and Tian Zhe and how he is loyal to Tian Zhe. It is funny how he is jealous of Zhi Er when Tian Zhe chooses her over him. Liked how he is hilarious at times. Liked the development of relationship between Shen Hao and Ya Dang from enemies to friends. It is funny how their followers are just enemies on the surface to follow their leaders. Liked the plot twist regarding the character that seems loyal to Tian Zhe’s mother. Found the Ophiuchus leader hilarious. Liked how the relationship between Bei Bei and Xiao Ai grows and how Bei Bei sees Xiao Ai as a friend instead of just a follower towards the end of the drama. It is cool how Xiao Ming that is sometimes mentioned but doesnt appear at all until towards the end of the drama is actually such a significant second lead. After I tried tagging the actors in Instagram, then I realised most of them are actually from a cpop group X Nine haha. Felt that this drama is better than Oh My Emperor which my sister watched and I peeked into and I think they acted better in this drama.

Finally to the 3 main characters haha. Liked the characters Shi Cun and Tian Zhe. A little dont like Zhi Er as she tells Shi Cun to put things back to their original positions even if people may not approve of it (cant remember exactly) and later becomes angry at him for doing that. Liked the background stories of Shi Cun and Tian Zhe. Shi Cun is the illegitimate child of Tian Zhe’s father. Tian Zhe’s mother is all out to kill him, especially since her son is not Leo. Because of that, Shi Cun lives a miserable life as his mother falls ill after an accident caused by Tian Zhe’s mother and she passes away eventually. Shi Cun only wants revenge until he meets Zhi Er. He equips himself with very high level of supernatural power, even though he pretends he has low level of supernatural power. Tian Zhe doesnt lead an easy life as he has to hide the fact that he is not Leo but Gemini as only Leo can take over Tian Zhe’s father corporation/company. Liked how Bai Shu and Xiao Zhan portrayed their characters’ emotional struggles. Felt that Shi Cun is a complex and likeable character and was happy that there is a good amount of screen time given to him. While his character is dark within, his character is cute on the surface and sometimes foolish. My sister found Shi Cun cute and he is the character that left the deepest impression on her. The scene that Shi Cun sacrifices himself for everyone is heartbreaking (sry for the spoiler). Liked how Tian Zhe is good at fighting. I guess the reason why he needs to be so good at fighting is because he doesnt want to use his supernatural power at all. Laughed at the scene where he sends Zi Jian and his gang of people flying. Touched by how Tian Zhe protects his secret with his life but when both Zhi Er and Shen Hao are in danger, he chooses to reveal his real identity to save them. It is funny how Tian Zhe’s English name is Maybe haha. Liked how Zhi Er is smart and determined and she is able to survive well in the competitions without any supernatural power.

Liked the development of relationship and chemistry between Zhi Er and Tian Zhe. At the start, there were some misunderstandings as Zhi Er went into Tian Zhe’s private changing room and she thought that he is a pervert as he went in after her. It was fun watching them bickering and watching how Tian Zhe protects her without being too obvious about it. The big turning point in their relationship is likely from the part where she knows Tian Zhe is her saviour when they were young. Liked their secret dates haha. Liked the interactions between them.

Liked the friendship between Zhi Er and Shi Cun. Liked how Shi Cun is always there for her (except at a few crucial moments haha), helps her with training her supernatural power, and rescues her from bad situations. Felt that both Tian Zhe and Zhi Er neglect their friends when they have a lover…

The pace of this drama is quite good, possible to chase it.

China Drama Review Whirlwind Girl 旋风少女

My sister and I happened to rewatch some parts of this drama due to a lack of dramas to watch nowadays so I decided to quickly write this review before it gets postponed to dont know when.
(Sigh, such a serious lack of dramas to watch since the change in trend of genre of kdramas. Felt that the scriptwriting for kdramas in general has deteriorated, even though many people seem to still enjoy them. China modern dramas are still not good enough to replace kdramas at the moment. Used to enjoy sg dramas in the past but based on the trailers nowadays, I feel that the target audience has narrowed. I guess there is nothing I can do but be more understanding towards my drama friend…)

Dropped Abyss, The Secret Life of My Secretary, Search: WWW at the first few episodes. Currently finishing up Angel’s Last Mission: Love and finished watching Perfume. Hopefully I can finish Angel’s Last Mission: Love as my sister dropped it at the 3rd last episode. Just finished watching Super Star Academy which my sister recommended me. It is quite a good watch. Currently watching Debut china drama which my sister recommended me. More or less finished scanning through About is Love, The Night of the Comet, From Survivor to Healer (Didnt watch middle part), My Poseidon, and Go Go Squid which do not have plots that are good enough but I have my own reasons for scanning through them. Started on Hotel Del Luna which is good.

Doing this by memory.

Whirlwind Girl (2015) 旋风少女

Enjoyment: 9/10  Pace: 9/10  No. of times I watched it: 3

starring Hu Bingqing as Qi Baicao, Yang Yang as Ruo Bai, Chen Xiang as Fang Tinghao, Bai Jingting as Yu Chuyuan, Zhao Yuannuan as Fang Tingyi, Yang Tailang as Shen Bo, Leo Wu as Hu Yifeng, Tan Songyun as Fan Xiaoying, Li Ze as Wu Xiuda, Yu Haoyang as Wu Xiuqin, Yu Tinger as Qu Guangya, Jiang Yiyi as Kim Min-joo, Zhang Xueying as Li En-xiu, Jang Tae-hoon as Min Shenghao

Happened to come across this drama due to becoming a fan of Yang Yang after watching him in Love O2O. This drama is a lot better than Love O2O to me and Yang Yang’s character is totally different here. Wanted to dismiss this drama when I started it as I feel that the personal monologue in the first episode is weird. Luckily, I didnt. Once I got past that, I couldnt stop watching.

The thing that stands out in this drama is Ruo Bai’s selfless love. He doesnt need Bai Cao to reciprocate his love at all and doesnt even want Bai Cao to know how much he does/has done for her. Liked how Ruo Bai likes to write calligraphy. And it is interesting how it is used to show his frustration and anger once and also shows how much he sacrifices for Bai Cao in the scene that he had to use newspapers instead of his usual calligraphy paper to help pay for her training expenses at the academy. Touched by Ruo Bai’s love for Bai Cao, especially towards the end when he chooses to help Bai Cao (because it is the critical time in her Taekwondo journey) instead of caring about his own health or when he risks his life to plead with the culprit to tell the truth that Bai Cao’s master/Taekwondo teacher did not use drug for his competition. I dont think such a person exists in the world and it is also not that good in a relationship as one person is giving too much and the other is not giving enough but I liked the character a lot and it shows unconditional love very well. My sister is so angry at him and wants to scold him for his foolishness at the 2nd time she watched it with me haha.

Chased this drama due to the Taekwondo competitions. Ruo Bai is a very good coach and he manages to guide Bai Cao not only in her trainings, but also in competitions to help her improve and develop and make good use of her strengths so that she can win in competitions. Enjoyed watching how there are many different types of interesting opponents whom Bai Cao needs to find out their weaknesses and beat. Enjoyed watching the cool stunts performed by Bai Cao during competitions.

Liked the character Bai Cao. Her loyalty to her Taekwondo master/teacher shines in this drama. Although Guang Ya, the Taekwondo master’s biological daughter, draws a line with him after the drug incident, Bai Cao never changes how she treats him and her belief that he is innocent never wavered. She also refuses to change her master even though that can lead to a better future in Taekwondo. Liked how she has great strength due to practice even though she didnt undergo any Taekwondo training. Felt that she looks a lot more cool than Ruo Bai when doing the Taekwondo moves haha. Liked the soft toy that she carries around. It looks like a grass which kind of represents her. Enjoyed watching her growth as she becomes better and better at Taekwondo. Liked how Bai Cao respects Chu Yuan’s decision to never do Taekwondo again without question and even prevents the battle between Ting Hao and Chu Yuan.

Liked the development of relationship and chemistry between Bai Cao and Ruo Bai. Liked the interactions between Ruo Bai and Bai Cao, even though most of the sweet interactions happen without the knowledge of the other party (as mentioned above about unconditional love). For example, a sweet but funny scene is where Ruo Bai secretly unlocks the gate for Bai Cao to enter as she comes back late/after curfew time but she jumps over the wall (?) despite receiving the note from under the gate. Liked watching Ruo Bai’s smiles haha.

Felt neutral about the character Chu Yuan. The good part of the character and the bad part of the character balances out haha. Liked how he is caring and gentle, and how he has a background story of being very good at Taekwondo but quits due to various reasons. However, he did not firmly reject Ting Yi and caused harm to Bai Cao so he is not good enough for Bai Cao to me. Plus, there is always a right timing for something and he loses his chance to be with Bai Cao due to him leaving. Even if he comes back and is sure of his feelings for Bai Cao, it is too late haha.

Liked the character Ting Hao. He is a good brother to Ting Yi and a good friend to Bai Cao and later a good friend to Ruo Bai. It is cool that he is good at Taekwondo. It is funny how Ting Hao starts to like Bai Cao after he pulls her into his car through the ceiling to prevent her from getting hit by his sport car. It is funny how he tries to hide his identity and gets closer to Bai Cao. Laughed at the ridiculously (?) funny methods he uses to confess his love for Bai Cao like pouring flower petals through a drone (?), and singing to Bai Cao with a band in front of many. Although he is immature and doesnt care about Bai Cao’s feelings at the start, he gradually becomes a more understanding person. It is good that he is so rich haha. Liked it when he uses his wealth for good purposes like the phone and tracking device he gives Bai Cao when she goes overseas and they come to good use when she really is separated from the others on the street as she went to catch a thief. It is funny how he always wants to compete with Chu Yuan or whoever he deems worthy. Later on, when he finds out about what Ruo Bai did for Bai Cao without letting her know, he hints to Bai Cao about it and gives up pursuing Bai Cao. Liked how he is a good friend to Ruo Bai towards the end when he forces and personally brings Ruo Bai to go for check-up and consultation, even though Ruo Bai is too stubborn and didnt go for treatment at the end. My sister liked the character more the second time we watched it together. May become a fan of Chen Xiang after this drama.

Liked the characters Xiao Ying and Yi Feng. Liked how Xiao Ying is so cheery and bubbly. She adds quite a lot of humour to the drama. Liked how she is such a loyal friend to Bai Cao. It is funny how Yi Feng is often seen yawning. Liked how Yi Feng is good at Taekwondo. Liked the friendship between Yi Feng and Ruo Bai. It was fun to watch the interactions between Xiao Ying and Yi Feng. Liked the development of the relationship and the chemistry between them, even though they didnt become a couple at this season and Xiao Ying likes Ruo Bai initially. May become Leo Wu’s/Wu Lei’s or Tan Songyun’s fan after this drama.

Liked the acting by the cast! Liked how there are many heartwarming and touching scenes in this drama and I could feel tears in my eyes several times. For example, when Xiao Ying kneels in the rain with Bai Cao to stop her from continue doing so, when Xiao Ying brings Bai Cao to her house and say that Bai Cao can depend on her, when Bai Cao cheers for Guang Ya during Guang Ya’s competition even though she was forced to leave that Taekwando team before that. It is funny how Min Joo always wants to challenge Bai Cao haha. It is funny how young Min Joo is immature but strong and Sheng Hao, her senior, has to try to keep her under control. Liked En Xiu who is cool and elegant. This is one of the few times that an actress can attract me without many scenes. Liked her interactions with Bai Cao, Ting Hao, Chu Yuan, and Min Joo. Enjoyed watching the interactions among people in Song Bai Taekwondo Center. Didnt like Ting Yi, the biased coach, Quan Sheng Taekwondo Center people and a little dont like Guang Ya. Liked how there is an analyst who is Ting Hao’s friend.

Currently watching Yang Yang’s new drama The King’s Avatar.

我的奇妙男友2之恋恋不忘 My Amazing Boyfriend 2 quotes (China Drama)

(ep 37)

China Drama Review My Amazing Boyfriend 2 我的奇妙男友2

My Amazing Boyfriend 2 (2019) 我的奇妙男友2之恋恋不忘

Enjoyment: 8.5/10

starring Mike Angelo as Xue Ling Qiao, Yu Esther/Yu Shu Xin as Tian Jing Zhi, Chen Lu Yuan as Xue Chang An, Li Ge Yang as Yun Zhen, Tian Yi Tong as Ye Mei Xiao, Fingal Fu as Li Yan Zhi, Aro Yang as Feng Dong Dong / Feng Re Re, Yang Zhi Ying as Bai Lu, Miles Wei as Dr. Jiang/Jiang Yi Heng

Wasnt interested in starting this drama when it was screening. Then, my sister decided to watch it so we tried it together. We dropped it after a few episodes as my sister felt that Yu Shu Xin is trying too hard to imitate how the previous lead actress acted Tian Jing Zhi. She also found her too crazy haha.

After that, we somehow finished scanning through this drama separately. I finished watching this drama at around end May. My reason was I was too bored at that time haha. And this drama was kind of worth the time.  Felt that the characters are distinct and well-portrayed. This drama has enough of what makes a good drama with elements such as well-written characters throughout, romance, friendships, heartwarming scenes, sad scenes, and comedy scenes. However, the pace is too slow for me. From around 1/4-1/2 way, I keep thinking “Why is this drama so long?”. I skipped through the crime-related parts which mostly involve the character Yan Zhi from Season 1 but it is still too long. Anyway, felt sad for him.  Although Xue Ling Qiao saves him with his blood in season 1, he has to watch Xue Ling Qiao get together with Tian Jing Zhi and it doesnt seem like he will like someone else. I didnt really watch My Amazing Boyfriend Season 1, only sneak peeked into it.

Liked the interactions between Xue Ling Qiao (XLQ, Ling Qiao sounds funny haha) and Tian Jing Zhi (Jing Zhi). It is funny how Jing Zhi has sleeping disorder and can fall asleep anytime and anywhere. Enjoyed watching how XLQ cares for Jing Zhi. For eg, showing looks of concern, protecting her from harm, cooking big meals for her, researching information on pregnancy, carrying her home/to her bed when she falls asleep somewhere else. One of the scenes that left a deep impression on me is the scene where XLQ gets to know that Jing Zhi may be harmed and goes searching for her at night. After knowing that she went to Mei Xiao’s house, it is funny how he rang the doorbells of all the units in the block as Mei Xiao’s house happens to be at the highest (?) level and he didnt know haha. Liked the 3 (?) rules XLQ sets in their relationship, cant remember exactly what they are. Had fun watching them bicker and watching XLQ’s jealousy scenes. Laughed a lot at the treadmill scene where XLQ spoils the treadmill. Felt hungry when watching Jing Zhi eating a big meal and it is nice how XLQ sits there patiently or cooks for her. Felt that their relationship could have been better with a little more feelings of romance and tension.

Liked the acting by the cast! Especially liked Yu Shu Xin’s acting and Li Ge Yang’s acting. Felt that Yu Shu Xin acted well in both comedy scenes and sad scenes. Laughed a lot at the scenes at the start of the drama where Jing Zhi thought that XLQ is part of her dream and did many weird things. Liked the many different hats Jing Zhi wears haha. Unexpectedly cried at the scene where she tells her parents that XLQ’s lifetime is very long while her lifetime is very short while XLQ and Bai Lu are listening downstairs. My tears just flow out of my eyes without thinking. I was surprised and watched the scene a few times to check haha. One of the highlights of My Amazing Boyfriend 2 is Yun Zhen acted by Li Ge Yang. Liked how there is depth in the character. There are many different sides to the character, the happy-go-lucky side, immature side, mischievous and playful side, lonely side, determined side, loyal side. Liked how he likes to hang from chandelier haha. Felt that it was a strange but cool entrance when I saw it the first time. Felt sad for him when he sacrificed himself to save Bai Lu, and Jing Zhi and XLQ’s child. His last messages to all of them were touching and heartbreaking, especially the one to Mei Xiao. Felt heartwarming and a wave of happiness when he is revived towards the end (Sry for the spoiler). May become his fan after this drama.

XLQ and Jing Zhi’s child, Chang An, is cute! Chang An is another hightlight of the drama.  Liked how he can appear in Jing Zhi’s dreams before he was born, saying his thoughts in an indirect way and saving her life once. Those scenes left a deep impression on me as a mixture of feelings is evoked each time. It is funny how he is too mature for his age and it was fun watching his interactions with his parents. Liked how he is so smart.

Liked the development of relationship and the chemistry between Yun Zhen and Mei Xiao. Yun Zhen is a playboy but after he dates Mei Xiao, she clings onto him. Because of that, Yun Zhen avoids her, hides from her and escapes whenever he sees her or knows that she is coming. It is funny how Mei Xiao never fails to ask whoever that dates Yun Zhen “How much money do you want to leave Yun Zhen?”. Liked the background story between young Mei Xiao and Yun Zhen which Yun Zhen comes to realise towards the end of the drama. This adds depth to their relationship. Liked how Mei Xiao is smart and cool, even guessing that Yun Zhen is someone that cant die which is uncommon in dramas haha. Young Mei Xiao is so cute and smart haha! However, the relationship between them is a bit bland since Yun Zhen is an unwilling party in the relationship until their 3rd (?) contract date which includes the raining scene. Felt that their bickering is not enough.

Enjoyed the fantasy parts. For example, how XLQ and Yun Zhen can run very fast and jump very high, how they can heal themselves, and how Bai Lu has photographic memory. It is cool to watch XLQ and Yun Zhen’s fighting scenes, even though it is expected that Yun Zhen will lose to XLQ eventually haha. Enjoyed watching the interactions among Feng Dong Dong, XLQ and Yun Zhen as they later live together in XLQ’s house and also the interactions among them and Jing Zhi, Mei Xiao, Bai Lu. It is funny how Bai Lu is poor at small talks haha. Dr Jiang/Yi Heng looks good-looking haha. Felt sad about Yi Heng’s past. Too bad there is no good ending for him. Liked the osts of the drama and was impressed that Yu Shu Xin sang the happy catchy song for the drama.

China Drama Review Long for you 2 我与你的光年距离Ⅱ

Such a long drama drought haha, especially for kdrama.

Long for you 2 (2018-2019) 我与你的光年距离Ⅱ

Enjoyment: 9.5/10  Pace: 9/10, 8/10 sometimes  No. of times I watched it: 1

starring Riley Wang/Wang Yi Lun as Ye Gu, Xu Xiao Nuo as Xia Xi, Zhang Bai Jia as Yao Xin, Wan Yan Luo Rong as Xia Yi Chen, Zhao Huan Ran as Gu Ning, Zhen Shu Huan as Xiao You

Finished this drama at around end March. Didnt feel like watching this drama at first as I saw some videos of it on instagram and the scenes were typical. After some time, my sister watched the first few episodes of this drama and found it watchable. She told me about the plot and I watched the drama with her after that. Luckily, I didnt miss it.

Liked the fantasy in the drama (as usual haha) such as teleportation.

The parts where Xia Xi can summon Ye Gu to her location whenever she feels fear after his tear dropped onto her pendant feels like Goblin. But I guess the difference for those parts is that Ye Gu is unhappy about her summoning him, especially at the start, but Goblin is usually happy about it and anticipates and prepares for it. Besides, Xia Xi just needs to feel fear and Ye Gu will be summoned. Enjoyed watching Ye Gu completing missions as a time messenger. His missions are usually to prevent people from dying or getting injured when they are not supposed to die/get injured. It is funny that for the 2 times Yang Mu, the villain, is involved, Ye Gu’s mission is to cause a person’s death when the person could have lived. It is cool how he uses his supernatural power to turn back or stop time and make certain changes to obtain the outcome that matches the mission. It is funny how he has to improvise. The mission that left the deepest impression on me is the one where he doesnt have his supernatural power but he still had to continue with the mission and he uses his own body to save a boy from getting into a car accident.

The ways that Ye Gu appears every time Xia Xi is in danger, ranging from smaller issues like falling down and being afraid of bugs to life threatening situations, are very cool haha! All his entrances to the scenes are well-executed and are nicely combined with his face that shows no feelings. Xia Xi gets into so many accidents haha… It is funny how there is one time that Xia Xi was sleeping and dreaming that she needs to prevent her food from being stolen or eaten and summoned Ye Gu to her house. Liked the scenery when they go into some time gap space that looks like galaxy.

Liked the development of relationship and chemistry between Ye Gu and Xia Xi. It is funny how Xia Xi is not affected by Ye Gu’s supernatural power and is amused when she sees him completing his missions. She calls him rude once when he points at her face, attempting to erase her memories but to no avail. It is fun to watch how Xia Xi finds Ye Gu’s identity funny but cool. Liked the characters, Xia Xi and Ye Gu. Xia Xi is cheerful but with a sense of loneliness. It was fun watching Xia Xi purposely watching a horror movie at home to summon Ye Gu and her delighted face when he appears. Xia Xi plays the active role and is often keen to interact with Ye Gu, helping in the development of their relationship. Ye Gu, on the other hand, doesnt express much feelings but is slowly being affected by Xia Xi. Ye Gu plays the role of a protector both in front of Xia Xi and silently behind such as making important decisions without her knowing. The similarity between the two is the loneliness both feel. Ye Gu doesnt make friends and build relationships due to how he lives an ever-lasting life and Xia Xi lives under the roof of a family who adopted her as the son knocked her down. Liked the part when Xia Xi moves to Ye Gu’s house as she cant stand her adoptive mother’s discrimination against her anymore. Can feel the joy and simple bliss in them. Felt that Wang Yi Lun looks more good-looking when he doesnt smile (or doesnt smile too widely) haha…One of the characteristics of Ye Gu that left a deep impression on me (and I found it funny) is that he sometimes just leaves when he wants to for example, when Yi Chen asks him a ridiculous question, he doesnt reply and just walks off. And this characteristic adds more sadness to the scene where he meets Xia Xi for the last time and (if I didnt remember wrongly) Xia Xi replies to what he said and turns back only to realise he is not there anymore.

Liked how Ye Gu’s butler is cute. It is funny that Gu Ning buys everything that Xiao You promotes in the home shopping channel. Liked his interactions with Ye Gu. Ye Gu is cold towards him at first but they gradually become more of friends than just servant and master. Admired how he is persistent in his love pursuit. His relationship with Xiao You shows that everything is possible haha. Liked the character Yi Chen, Xia Xi’s adoptive brother, as he adds humour to the drama. Laughed at the scenes where he is amused the first time he sees Ye Gu teleporting, and when he tries to understand the type of guy Yao Xin likes and imitates Ye Gu. Liked the interactions between Xia Xi and Yi Chen such as the playful ones and when they provide support for each other. It is seldom that the second male lead snatches the second female lead and it is good to watch Yi Chen doing that haha. It is funny how Yi Chen moves to Ye Gu’s house too to protect Xia Xi from Ye Gu. It is nice how Xia Xi’s adoptive brother and father treat her like family despite how they are not biologically related. Admired Xiao You’s fighting spirit when she chases her dream and how she treasures and makes good use of every opportunity she can get. Liked how she tries to help Xia Xi get together with Ye Gu towards the end. Felt that Yao Xin’s punishment is too light. She commits such a great evil deed and shows no remorse for so long but still gets to live and be with Yi Chen…(Sry for the spoiler) Liked the acting by the cast!

The plot that involves life and death situations gives the drama a layer of grimness. The company related plot is quite boring to me haha. Felt that this drama lacks enough tension and suspense to make me chase it but overall still good enough.

Long for you 2 ost ig post

Hot Girl (2016) Chinese Drama

Hot Girl 麻辣变形计 (2016)

Cast: Dilraba Dilmurat as Guan Xiao Di, Ma Ke as Liang Da Wei, Wang Yang as Cui Tian Qi, Liu Chan as Ju Liang, Shao Bing as Xiong Kuo Hai, Eliza as Liu Sha, Ai Xiao Di as Zhang Yan, Lou Jia Yue as Mary, Wang Lu as Qin Sheng

Episodes: 37

My Own Review:

I like how this show has quite a lot of fighting scenes (compared to Sweet Combat). I feel that shows that are related to combat sports should have quite a lot of fighting scenes as this will allow characters in the show to display their amazing skills. I like how Guan Xiao Di is very good at fighting.

hot girl guan xiaodi

It is amazing how she is good at many other things as well (like playing pool).

hot girl guanxiaodi.JPEG

I like how Xiong Kuo Hai, the boss of the bodyguard company L.H.S.D., treats his employee. Xiong Kuo Hai treats his employees like family. One instance of him treating his employee like family is when he gives Liu Sha and Qin Sheng a mission, which is to take a break and marry each other during their break (if I am not wrong). Xiong Kuo Hai also gives his employees a second chance if his employees decide to turn a new leaf.

Putting this picture of Guan Xiao Di and Liang Da Wei as I like the shirt that they are wearing. The dog that is wearing sunglasses seems to be bodyguards too (just like Guan Xiao Di and Liang Da Wei). Hahaha…

China Drama Review Ashes of Love 香蜜沉沉烬如霜

Ashes of Love/Heavy Sweetness, Ash-like Frost (2018) 香蜜沉沉烬如霜

starring Yang Zi as Jinmi, Deng Lun as Xufeng, Luo Yunxi as Runyu, Wang Yifei as Suihe, Xia Zhiyuan as Danzhu, Liao Jingfeng as Yanyou, Zhang Junran as Lord Liaoyuan, Chen Yuqi as Liuying, Zou Tingwei as Muci

After becoming a fan of Deng Lun (after I saw him in Sweet Dreams), I searched for his dramas and happened to chance upon this drama. But it is a long series China period/historical drama and the plot of such drama is usually a combination of reincarnation and tragic love+sacrifice which I dont really like. Finished this drama at around September-October. Happy to get a hold of this drama and Sweet Dreams when there is a lack of kdramas to watch.

Loved the fantasy element in this drama! Liked how the characters can fly in the air, especially liked the scene when Xufeng brings Jinmi up to Heaven Realm and flies through the different layers of skies. They have supernatural powers depending on the tribes (?) they are from such as Bird tribe, Dragonfish tribe, Flower tribe. Xufeng’s power is based on fire as his parents are dragon and phoenix while his elder half-brother’s power is based on water as his parents are dragon and dragonfish. Jinmi’s power is based on flower and water. Liked how Xufeng is powerful and can use his power for many purposes such as healing, transformation, fighting. He looks good when shooting fire arrows haha. Liked how Jinmi can grow different types of plants and herbs with her power, especially healing herbs. My sister likes water power the most as she likes water but too bad the guy with water power is not the main lead. It is cool how they can change clothes using power!

Loved the scenery in this drama, especially when they go to Demon World, the beautiful river and sky! Liked the boat-riding when going there haha.

Liked the development of relationship between Xufeng and Jinmi.

For the first part, it is fun to watch how naive and playful Jinmi slowly breaks the ice with seemingly cold Xufeng. Could see that Xufeng has a good time having Jinmi by his side haha. After he brings her up to Heaven Realm, he helps her improve by making her memorise the spells (?) and theories. When she is lazy, he punishes her once by transforming her into different objects. Enjoyed watching how Xufeng cant help but smile when Jinmi complains about him or at Jinmi’s naivety. It is funny how Jinmi only thinks of how to increase her power and can do anything for that. Jinmi saves Xufeng a few times but I think she causes more danger to him haha. Because of Jinmi, the invincible Xufeng ends up getting injured as Jinmi either distracts him or causes him to risk his life to save her. But I guess that shows how important Jinmi is to Xufeng and how she has an impact on him. Although Jinmi cant feel love due to her deceased mother putting the Unfeeling pill in her, I could feel the relationship and love between them growing. Liked how Xufeng gradually falls for her and how Jinmi cares for him. The two defining moments in their relationship to me are when Xufeng is injured because of Jinmi, Jinmi’s sudden forced kiss to feed Xufeng the healing herb she grew and when she believes in Moon immortal and hugs Xufeng to repay his kindness and he accepts it happily. This part was the best to me. Feel that the love is simple at this point and it is good that no one is interfering. I chased the drama for this part. I watched the drama while it was screening. Luckily, many episodes were added per week.

For the second part where the relationship between Jinmi and Xufeng starts from scratch as they both go to the mortal world and their memories are erased, there are some similarities with the first part like Jinmi meeting Xufeng through saving him. The main difference here is that the unfeeling pill starts to crack and Jinmi is able to feel her love for Xufeng. Xufeng is now the king and Jinmi is a physician who is forbidden to marry anyone and will be buried with the king when he dies. Liked how there is a different scenario and subplot and their relationship gets to develop again. Especially liked the scenes when Jinmi didnt know Xufeng is the king and Xufeng pretends he is still unable to hear and talk so that he wont cause any potential danger to her. Although there is less fantasy element due to them being at the mortal world and Jinmi, Xufeng not being able to use their powers, I enjoyed the romantic scenes and their chemistry. Touched by their love in this part.

For the final tragic parts, what hits me the most is their longing for each other and there are some good emotion-provoking scenes.

Liked how Yang Zi portrayed Jinmi and Deng Lun portrayed Xufeng and they add depth to the characters. Felt that Yang Zi’s crying scenes touched me more than Deng Lun’s ones haha. For example, I felt like crying when she cries for her reincarnated friend who sacrifices her life for Jinmi once again. Yang Zi acted well and she feels different when she is the naive and playful Jinmi and the confident and lovely mortal world Jinmi. My sister was hit by the scene where Xufeng is sad, happy then sad and she almost drops the drama. He is sadly playing the harp at first, thinking that he has no chance with Jinmi since they have the same father then he is suddenly very happy as Jinmi’s biological father comes in and say that Jinmi is his daughter and then he is sad as it is already part of an agreement between the elders that his elder half-brother is supposed to marry her. Felt that Deng Lun’s expressions are on point. Felt sad at the scene where Xufeng bids farewell to Jinmi and say they are not meant to be together to Jinmi who he cant see as she was under invisibility spell. The atmosphere for that scene was well-evoked. Liked how Xufeng is very sure of what he wants and is able to reject what his mother plans for him.

Liked how there are many distinct characters in the drama and enjoyed watching the interactions between characters.

Liked the relationship between Xufeng and his half-brother, Runyu, at the start. Runyu protects his younger brother, Xufeng, and Xufeng stands up for Runyu when others talk negatively about him or when Xufeng’s mother try to frame Runyu for things he did not do. However, this changes due to Jinmi later on haha… Didnt like Runyu as a character after he uses the elders’ agreement to his advantage. It is fine if he competes with his brother for Jinmi but he should not have taken advantage of the unfeeling pill in Jinmi for his own purposes. Didnt like it when one of the servants say that in terms of history, Jinmi is meant to be with Runyu first since the agreement is set long ago. Without Xufeng meeting Jinmi, she wont even be acknowledged as Water immortal’s daughter.

Liked the relationship between Xufeng and his uncle, the Moon immortal. Liked the character, the Moon/fox immortal Danzhu, who is in charge of love and marriages of mortal beings, as he is cute and funny haha and eager to help Xufeng and Jinmi get together. He is actually powerful and old but his actions make him seem like a child haha. Liked how Danzhu is always on Xufeng’s side and supports and guides him when needed.

Liked how Lord Liaoyuan, Xufeng’s personal guard, is loyal to Xufeng and was touched when he sacrifices his life for Xufeng (sry for the spoiler). Liked the relationship between playful Yanyou, snake deity, and Jinmi. Although Yanyou likes her, he doesnt mind staying by her side and just being her friend. Liked how Jinmi can summon Yanyou when she is bored and Yanyou is happy to come whenever his help is needed. Felt sad for Yanyou when his good friend, Rat immortal, is killed. Liked how he chooses not to participate in Runyu’s revolution later on. Suihe looks quite pretty haha with her costume. Felt neutral about her character. She is too persistent to be with Xufeng even though she knows Xufeng doesnt like her. The only time I felt sad for her is when she recalls that she cruelly killed her mortal father to save Xufeng and feels sad about it after she returns to Heaven Realm. Liked the relationship between Liuying+her father and Xufeng. Xufeng helps them when they need it and they later help to hide him when Runyu is all out to make sure he is dead. Didnt like the relationship between Muci and Liuying enough as I think I happened to skip most of the parts they are in. Guess it is some nice tidbits haha.

Didnt like Jinmi’s father as he supports Runyu without knowing how cruel he can become. Didnt like Jinmi’s father as he can neither protect the woman he loved in the past, nor can he protect his current family later on. I felt that it was not a good choice to let Jinmi stay in Heaven Realm after Jinmi’s father acknowledges that Jinmi is his daughter. Heaven Realm is a dangerous place to be at haha. They should have followed what Jinmi’s mother wants and let her be alone at the Flower Realm and be free of problems. But I guess that cant happen for the plot to develop haha. Liked how Linxiu doesnt try to force Jinmi’s father to like her even though they are married, as well as how she treats Jinmi as her own daughter. Felt neutral towards Xufeng’s parents+didnt like the bad deeds they did but liked how they treat Xufeng.

The pace for this drama is good for around episodes 1-14 and episodes 18-32 and those parts I wrote in The best way to watch Ashes of Love. It is slow at other times but to me this drama is overall worth the time. I skipped quite a lot and scanned through here and there. I was satisfied with the ending and happy it is not a tragic one haha. Felt that there was good closure for the characters.

Woah, this review is so tedious as there are so many characters to write about haha… This is the first time I watched a China Period/Historical Drama and maybe the last time. See if any other such drama is worth the time haha.

China Drama Review Sweet Dreams 一千零一夜

Updated on 29/12/18 as it feels like something is missing

Sweet Dreams (2018) 一千零一夜

Enjoyment: 10/10  Pace: 9/10, 8/10 sometimes  No. of times I watched it: 2

starring Deng Lun as Bo Hai, Dilraba Dilmurat as Ling Ling Qi, Zhang Haowei as Chen Mo, Zhu Xudan as Zhou Xin Yan, Chen Yilong as Mo Nan, Wang Ruizi as
Lu Bao Ni

Finished it at around September this year. Cant remember why I started watching this haha. I remember that while it is screening, I randomly watched the most recent episode and found Bo Hai too crazy and the actor did not look good-looking so didnt pay much attention to the drama. But cant remember why I started watching it haha. Maybe because I read somewhere that there is fantasy in the plot? Lucky I didnt miss this drama haha…

Loved the fantasy element in the drama a lot! Due to error in the sleep bands which aim to promote better quality sleep, Ling Ling Qi is able to enter Bo Hai’s dreams when both of them are asleep and wearing the bands. It is interesting to see the different dreams Bo Hai has and they are related to what is happening in the company. Liked how there are many types of settings for the dreams and how Bo Hai and Ling Ling Qi go into different roles each time. Some settings are very beautiful haha. I especially liked the setting where it looks magical and there is a lake and many plants around. Liked the costume the most at around ep 23 (written in the instagram/facebook haha). It is funny how Ling Ling Qi uses the dreams for her own purposes. As she can see clearly that the other person in the dream looks exactly like her crush, Bo Hai, she tries to hug and kiss him and later on when she is not happy with real life Bo Hai, she avenges him in the dreams. After both of them know that they are actually meeting each other in the dreams, it is interesting how they choose to communicate what they cant say in real life in the dreams instead. Loved how the curtains open automatically when Bo Hai’s alarm sounds in the morning and he awakes from his sleep!

Enjoyed watching the chemistry and the development of relationship between Bo Hai and Ling Ling Qi. It is fun to watch them bicker a lot after they meet. Although Bo Hai is at the upperhand since he is Ling Ling Qi’s superior, Ling Ling Qi does not back down easily and sometimes win in the bickerings, making Bo Hai speechless. Felt that it is good that there is chance for Ling Ling Qi to pursue Bo Hai and then the other way round. There is smooth transition in the development of relationship. The relationship is built step by step gradually and it feels comfortable watching. Liked how they protect each other in the drama. While Bo Hai protects Ling Ling Qi in various scenerios in relation to company issues, Ling Ling Qi actually protects Bo Hai by giving him inspiration in face of company problems and calming his fears by protecting him in his dreams. Felt that the raining scene when Bo Hai secretly follows Ling Ling Qi to ensure her safety is romantic haha! He isnt sure if Ling Ling Qi can accept his past but still silently looks out for her (if I didnt remember wrongly). The scenes where Bo Hai dances the square/plaza dance (the older people like Ling Ling Qi’s mother dance) are cute haha! Liked their sweet interactions a lot when they are lovers. It is cringy at times when Ling Ling Qi is all out to pursue Bo Hai and I skipped some parts of it if it is too much for me haha. But I could bear with it most of the time. Could feel the pain in the hug when they finally meet each other again after the downfall of Bo Hai’s company and it felt like something was pulling at my heart. Liked how that scene was executed.

Liked the portrayals of friendships in this drama, Chen Mo+Bo Hai+Xin Yan and Ling Ling Qi+Bao Ni+Mo Nan. Bo Hai, Chen Mo and Xin Yan are founders of the company and they know each other quite well. All 3 are in good rapport and Chen Mo+Xin Yan follow Bo Hai’s lead well. When there are company problems, they can work together well and are able to settle them swiftly. A friendship is not perfect and there are conflicts sometimes due to difference in thinking. Liked how they are able to resolve the conflicts well. Liked how Ling Ling Qi+Bao Ni+Mo Nan share happiness and sorrow together. They look out for each other and encourage each other. Although there ends up to be unrequited love in the friendship of Ling Ling Qi+Bao Ni+Mo Nan, my sister liked how Mo Nan is loyal and didnt have a change of heart (even though Ling Ling Qi is taken). Mo Nan and Bao Ni continue to just be friends (sry for the spoiler).

Among the friendships, I especially liked the friendship between Chen Mo and Bo Hai as Chen Mo is Bo Hai’s best buddy and helps him share his burden and worries. Liked the scenes where they play mobile games together happily. It is fun to watch them teasing and threatening each other haha. Liked the lollipop couple Chen Mo and Xin Yan. It is funny how Chen Mo can cheer Xin Yan up by offering her lollipops which are different in shapes and sizes each time. My sister feels that Chen Mo is the only one that didnt make any wrong decision in the drama haha. Also liked the concept of family in this drama.

Loved how this drama is based on the floral industry. This drama reminds me that I want to learn flower language and arrangement one day haha. Liked how Bo Hai is good at floral art and how he thinks of floral designs as a way to heal and enlighten people. Found it good that he doesnt forget his original intention of doing floral art and opens a small online flower shop at night just to help people solve their worries or help them move on. The change of attitude of the staff towards the company and Bo Hai towards the end feels unreal. Doubted whether they are sincere or not.

Liked how there are many plot twists and good plot development due to various company problems caused by traitors which made me chase the drama. Liked how Bo Hai is smart and very good at dealing with those problems. Liked the acting by the cast. Liked Dilraba Dilmurat’s acting and she acted well in all the scenes ranging from crazy fangirl scenes, bickering scenes to loving scenes and sad scenes. Felt sad at the scene (at the bus stop) where she desperately tries to save Bo Hai’s poster when they are taken down or destroyed. Admired Ling Ling Qi’s fighting spirit. Became a fan of Deng Lun after this drama. Liked his acting. Liked how he portrayed the emotional struggle his character feels as his character brings along with him a “bomb” of potential colour blindness that may explode anytime (watch the drama to know why). Was touched when he shows how much the company and Ling Ling Qi mean to him. When he had to choose one, he chooses Ling Ling Qi first while trying his best to look for alternatives to save the other. Liked the character, Bo Hai, a lot. Deng Lun manages to add depth to the character by showing us different sides to his character for example, the playful and serious sides. Deng Lun doesnt look good-looking at certain angles+certain hairstyles and when he is acting angry haha but his overall appearance is still good. The ending theme song that he sang for this drama becomes my most favourite Chinese song for now haha.

Felt that the pace is quite good overall even though it is slow at times, especially when Ling Ling Qi strikes a deal with Mo Nan to leave Bo Hai so that the company can be saved. Didnt like Mo Nan as a character even though he causes quite a lot of conflicts in the drama which leads to some plot development. Although he realises his mistakes and helps Bo Hai get back the company towards the end, I just cant forgive what he did haha…

This is my most favourite drama for 2018 (not including I am not a robot and A Korean Odyssey as they are 2017-2018 dramas). It is the first time a China Drama actually wins Korean Dramas. One of the factors is fantasy which happens to be lacking in kdramas this year. Another factor is plot development and plot twists which is especially lacking in most romantic comedies and lacking in those fantasy kdramas I watched. The pace may be slower than kdramas since there are about 3 times the number of episodes but for this year the pace for most kdramas are not fast enough for me. It is also some time since I feel sad when I finished watching a drama.

Unexpected (2018) China Drama

Writing this review on behalf of my sister haha since she is busy. Sorry for people who dont know Chinese as there may not be English subtitles for this drama yet.

Unexpected 来到你的世界 (2018)

Cast: Austin Lin 林柏宏 as He Jie, Li Hao Fei 李浩菲 as Lu Zi Xing, Huang Jun Jie 黄俊捷 as Gong Cheng, Huang U.Lin 黄一琳 as Pei En Cai, 张津铭 as Su Zi Xun, 王迩忆璇 as Bai Lian

Episodes: 23

Recommendation: 9/10

My Own Review:

This drama seems to be specially made for my sister haha since she feels that life is tough and wants to meet the author that is controlling her life to change her life completely. 😀 She is comforted by this drama. This drama illustrates that no matter how uncontrollable life is, there will still be a day that you can change it as long as you have the direction and a good mentor.

Liked the fantasy elements in the drama. Like in W-2 worlds (kdrama), He Jie can make things appear or happen by drawing them. After He Jie’s mission in the comic world is completed, it is cool (and scary) how things start to break apart and disappear or fall to kill He Jie or Zi Xing since He Jie is supposed to return to his world and not stay in the comic world. My sister likes the flower He Jie draws specially for Zi Xing to signify their love. It is a flower only both of them know about.

Liked how He Jie is smart and how there are clever plot twists when he deals with situations his own way. It is fun to watch He Jie try his best to ship the lead couple and prevent Zi Xing from falling for the male lead (and commit evil deeds) even though things may not turn out the way he expected. It is interesting that He Jie can feel Zi Xing’s pain (since the real people will be connected to the comic characters their missions involve) and he always seems to be in more pain than her haha. Enjoyed watching how Zi Xing slowly falls for He Jie instead and how He Jie starts to develop feelings for his characters. My sister and I liked how He Jie resolves the conflict with Zi Xing when Zi Xing realises who he actually is. He manages to prove to her that the characters have their own thinking too and it is not always controllable by him. However, towards the end, I felt that the pace of the drama becomes slower and there are not enough emotion-provoking scenes for me.

The male lead and female lead in the comic

My sister likes Pei En Cai’s personality as she is happy and easy-going. Even when she suddenly becomes a poor family’s daughter or when she realises she is just part of a comic, it does not bother her much and she just accepts everything and takes them in stride. That is the personality He Jie gives her and it seems good to have such a personality in real life haha. Gong Chen seems to have it all but he is actually a lonely person that desires freedom. He Jie draws whatever he desires in real life for Gong Chen but did not know that he also draws in his own loneliness for him. It is funny that He Jie draws his own parents as Gong Chen’s parents and is surprised to see them when he goes into the comic world. My sister feels that Gong Chen is generous and loyal to his friend. When He Jie becomes Gong Chen’s friend+personal assistant, he stands up for He Jie and helps He Jie when He Jie needs it.

(The actor acting as) Gong Chen is good-looking haha. But He Jie is also good-looking haha… Although some people may like this couple more than the lead couple, my sister and I liked the lead couple more. Felt that the development of relationship is a little unreal  for the comic’s lead couple. Maybe the lack of evil deeds done by the evil female supporting character after He Jie’s appearance affects the development of their relationship. He Jie actually writes Zi Xing’s experiences and sufferings based on his own experiences which makes my sister think that they will definitely like each other since they are so alike and feels a bit doubtful about their relationship. To me, this is not really a problem since in real life, being similar does not necessarily mean you will fall in love with the person. It is just an added advantage in a relationship since they can understand each other better.

My sister doesnt like Zi Xun as he only aims to prove himself and show that what he did was right. This kind of people is pathetic even though they cant help it. As Bai Lian comes from the real world, both of them cant remain in the comic world after her mission is complete and one of them has to die. Bai Lian chooses to sacrifice herself. Zi Xun feels angry with himself as he does not want to lose what he has in the comic world and doesnt try to stop her. Before Bai Lian dies, He Jie gives her his magical pen as a present (if i didnt remember wrongly). Zi Xun later becomes evil and uses He Jie ‘s magical pen for evil deeds. The character Zi Xun does add some thriller and conflicts towards the end though. Liked how Bai Lian is a fan of He Jie and it is cute and sweet whenever she calls him Da Da or gives him the heart hand sign.

Special mentions to the character that often cooks chicken soup as she is always cheerful, loyal to her friends. My sister also likes the policeman that is in charge of logic in the comic. He fills the logic gap whenever it is needed. When He Jie comes to the comic world, he is a great help to He Jie, telling him how to leave the comic world, giving him the magical pen and releasing him from the police station when he was arrested a few times haha.

The best way to watch Ashes of Love (Dont read if you want to watch the whole drama)

This is my first and maybe last China historical drama haha.

Dont read if you dont want spoiler.

If you dont like tragic/negative/slow-paced parts like me and dont want to skip important parts, I recommend watching the drama this way. My sister would have dropped this drama a lot earlier if she didnt. I tend to scan through dramas quickly or watch random episodes by myself (there are advantages and disadvantages to this)instead of patiently watching episode by episode so i managed to find out what episodes are good to watch haha. Whenever I watch with my sister, we will watch one episode at a time. The episode number is an estimate as different websites may be different. I am basing it on maplestage.

Ep 1-14,17: The development of relationship between Xufeng and Jinmi. The good times and small separations until Runyu uses his “bonded” marriage to his advantage. The portrayal of many related characters.
Xufeng acting ill to test Jinmi.

Second half of Ep 18-32: Xufeng and Jinmi’s relationship starts from scratch as they go to the mortal world and their immortal related memories are erased. Runyu’s past revealed.

Ep 33: Runyu defending his tribe.

Ep 34: Xufeng and Jinmi’s love scenes.

Ep 37: Xufeng saving Jinmi from mother and saving mother from water immortal.

Ep 40: Xufeng being framed for killing Water Immortal.

Ep 43: Jinmi killing Xufeng.

Ep 44-50: Jinmi regrets and tries all ways to revive Xufeng. Xufeng’s mother’s past revealed. Xufeng facing reality and becomes Demon Lord.

Ep 57 -final episode: Xufeng and Jinmi’s set-up marriage, Jinmi sacrificing herself, everything sorted out

Use this as a guide if you need haha. Let’s see if there will be any other China historical drama in the future that can capture my attention and make me want to chase it.
