Random recommendations for sad dramas

Sorry for any spoilers.

Snow Queen (2006) 雪之女王

starring Hyun Bin as Han Tae Woong / Han Deuk Gu and Sung Yu Ri as Kim Bo Ra.
Plot: This is about a brilliant genius at Mathematics and a girl who had an incurable illness. Tae Woong’s best friend, Bo Ra’s brother actually wanted to recommend his own sister to him. Little does he knows that Tae Woong already met his sister when both of them were trying to escape from something in life. The girl had a crush on him and they decided to meet another day. On that day, Tae Woong beats his best friend, Jeong Kyu (Bo Ra’s brother) in an international Mathematics Olympiad, Jeong Kyu commits suicide. Therefore, he loses touch with her without finding out her name until they met again at a hospital. What will Tae Woong do when he knows that Bo Ra’s brother is Jeong Kyu?

Doing this by memory as I watched it long ago. It is a sad love. They long for each other yet cannot be together. If you hope to draw out tears, you can try this drama. Watching 49 days is more effective to me. Haha. My first drama with Hyun Bin and Sung Yu Ri in it and I liked how they portrayed their characters and was attracted to Hyun Bin’s acting.

49 days (2011)

starring Lee Yo Won as Song Yi Kyung, Nam Gyu Ri as Shin Ji Hyun and Jo Hyun Jae as Han Kang.
Plot: A young woman named Ji Hyun was enjoying absolute bliss as she was about to be married with her fiancé but her perfect life is shattered in a car accident that left her in a coma. She is given a second chance at life by a reaper, but it comes with a condition: she has to find three people outside of her family who would cry genuine tears for her. She thought that it would be a easy task but it is not. She has to borrow a living person’s body while she works out her way to survive. She will solve the mystery related to her family and discover the people who truly loves her.

Even though the ending is sad, the 49 days she went through is still worth it. If she did not go through it, she would not have known what his best friend and fiance have been planning behind her back. I feel that this drama has stirred much of my emotions. Ji Hyun is always hopeful with life and even tries to better the life of the woman whom she is using the body. It is heartbreaking that such a cheerful and optimistic person has to leave when she even obtains the three tears and a chance to live again. Although Yi Kyung wanted her to leave when she first became able to see her as a spirit, I am glad that Yi Kyung decides to help Ji Hyun out. I am touched when in the hospital room, Ji Hyun jumps out of Yi Kyung’s body to sing a song to her parents with the music in the background. Although she cannot be heard by her parents, it is her doings that moved me.
