Korean Drama Review Angel eyes AE

Angel Eyes (2014) 天使之眼

Genre: Melodrama, Romance, Family, Medical

Enjoyment: 8/10  Pace: 6/10  No. of times I watched it: 1

angel eyes   angel eyes2

starring Lee Sang Yoon as as Park Dong Joo, Kang Ha Neul as Park Dong Joo (young) and Koo Hye Sun as Yoon Soo Wan, Nam Ji Hyun as Yoon Soo Wan (young). Other casts: Kim Ji Suk as Kang Ji Woon and Seung Ri as Teddy Seo.

There was a car accident in the tunnel which Soo Wan and her mother are involved. Dong Joo’s father tries to save Soo Wan’s mother but to no avail as the whole tunnel collapses. Both of them die and Soo Wan becomes blind. Feels sad that both have to die, especially Dong Joo’s father who can escape but choose to save Soo Wan’s mother. Such a remarkable firefighter spirit!

Love the development between young lead couple which creates a great impact to the start of the drama. Dong Joo even tests for himself what it is like to be blind when Soo Won was blind. After the couple separated, the interesting thing is both do the job of the other. Soo Wan’s father is a doctor and Dong Joo’s dream is to become a firefighter like his father. They meet as firefighter(Soo Wan) and doctor (Dong Joo). Seung Ri (as a new firefighter working under Soo Wan) adds humour to the heavy plot by using English words and his acting to make scenes funny.

I dislike it when Soo Wan’s father keeps separating the couple. He is just using the excuse that he does not want Soo Wan to know that the reason Soo Wan can see now is because she gets an eye transplant from Dong Joo’s mother who died. He probably is just guilty that he did not want to save Dong Joo’s mother so that Soo Wan can see. He even wants to make Dong Joo his son instead of son-in-law. Happiness can be simple. However, due to the many regrets and wrong decisions people made, happiness seems to be out of reach. At first, I did not like Ji Woon who is Dong Joo’s love rival but feel sorry for him as his mother killed someone for him to cover up his crime (at the same time help Soo Wan see) without him knowing and makes him suffer after he knows about it. Can a mother’s love be harmful to the child?

  1. I have watch it several times now. I finished watching it in a day. Because I’ve so enjoyed watching angel eyes, the chemistry both the young and adult versions are amazing, Teddy with his funny self, watching it without having to look for flaws made it easy and enjoyable for me. Now as I continue watching it, I just fwd to my favorite episodes. The adult version. I’m not saying the younger version is not likeable, I just prefer the older version. YEOBOSEYO AE CAST MEMBERS.
